Abstract
M.Ö. 1200 yıllarında Hitit Devleti’nin yıkılışından sonra Anadolu’da ve KuzeySuriye’de birbirinden bağımsız kent devletlerinin oluşturduğu yeni bir siyasal yapılanmagörülür. Zaman içerisinde kendi kültürel ve ekonomik yapısını oluşturan bu kentdevletlerinin Hititlerin devamı olduğu kabul edilir. Sahip oldukları jeopolitik konumlarıitibariyle Anadolu-Mezopotamya-Kuzey Suriye-Doğu Akdeniz arasında kilit noktasındadırlar.Özellikle Toroslar ve Amanoslarda bulunan geçitler bölgeler arasındaetkileşimde önemli rol oynamıştır. İşte bu sebepten bölge politik ve ekonomik olarakönem kazanmıştır. Başta demir olmak üzere bakır, kurşun, çinko, gümüş açısından zenginolan bölge, yine sahip olduğu yerüstü zenginlik kaynaklarından dolayı da Assur’unve çağdaşı olan Urartu; Frig gibi güçlü devletlerin düzenli sefer yapmasına yol açmıştır.Assur’un bölgeye yaptığı seferleri anlattığı yazılı belgeler -seferler sonucunda eldeettiği haraç adı altında aldıkları vergiler- bölgenin ekonomik faaliyetlerini anlamamızaçısından önem arz etmektedir.
A new political structuring constituted by city states independent of eachother is seen in Anatolia and North Syria after downfall of Hittite State in the years1200 B.C. It is accepted that these city states which constituted their own culturaland economical structure in time were continuation of the Hittites. By their owngeopolitical posititon, they are at the key point between Anatolia-Mesopotamia-North Syria-East Mediterranean. Especially, passageways on Taurus Mountains andAmanos Mountains have important roles for interzonal interaction. Because of thisreason, the region has gained importance as political and economical. The regionwhich was wealthy in terms of mainly iron, copper, lead, zinc, silver has caused Assyriaand strong states as Urartu contemporary of Assyria, Phrygia to organize regularcampaigns. Written sources about the campaigns that were organized to the region byAssyria- taxes called as tributes taken as a result of the campaigns- have importance interms of understanding economical activities of the region.
