Özet

Land use/land cover change (LULCC) is one of the important factor responsible for climate change because these changes affect water and energy processes in ecosystems. Climate change is an important threat especially for agricultural areas. Climate change also threatens food security through food supply, accessibility to food, and effective use of food, posing a risk of rising food prices. This study was conducted in Kilis city centre and its surroundings. The province has a high agricultural potential. The aim of the study is to evaluate together with the land change tendency and the temperature and precipitation trend (for 1985-2001-2019) of the study area and to develop suggestions for the sustainability of the agricultural areas. The research findings showed that, between 1985-2019, settlement areas developed towards bare areas and agricultural lands. In addition the trend analysis results demonstrated that temperature increased and precipitation decreased. As a result, correct field usage is very important in reducing the impact of global warming. In this context, ecology-based land use decisions need to be developed.
