Özet
This research investigated the use of glass fiber-Portland cement as reinforcement to increase the structural and mechanical properties of sandy soils in the city of Duzce, Turkey. The mechanical behavior of the soil was determined by unconfined compressive strength tests. The utilization of glass fiber and cement increased the engineering properties and mechanical strength of sandy soils, reduced displacement at failure, and resulted in a noticeably brittle behavior. Maximum strength was attained at a glass fiber content of 3%, while further increases in glass fiber led to a decrease in the mechanical properties of the cement and sandy soils.
