Diversity and distribution of entomopathogenic nematodes in the families Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae were investigated throughout the surveys conducted in Düzce, Bolu, Karabuk and Zonguldak provinces in the Western Black Sea Region of Turkey between 2013 and 2015. Of the 183 soil samples collected, 6 % were positive for entomopathogenic nematodes. According to molecular analyses of the six isolates, the species were identified as Steinernema carpocapsae, S. feltiae, S. weiseri. The rest of the isolates which could not be identified with molecular identification methods were characterized as morphologically, and three of them were classified as belonging to Steinernema while two classified as Heterorhabditis. The soils of positive sites were classified as loam, sandy-loam and clay-loam, and their pH ranged from 4.68 to 7.41. The Steinernematids were isolated from agricultural fields including hazelnut, walnut, poplar, corn, tomato, bean, and Heterorhadits were from forest. Entomopathogenic nematodes were obtained only from Duzce and Bolu provinces. S.weiseri, which has previously been determined only in the Aegean and Central Anatolian regions, was isolated for the first time in the Black Sea Region.
