Özet

Lodges and mausoleums were closed in accordance with the law no. 677 which was legislated in 1925 after establishing the Republic of Turkey. It was shown an effort that not to make concessions to the related law in Atatürk's period. After the death of Atatürk, in the period of İsmet İnönü who became president on 11th November 1938, this subject did not cause serious quarrel in consideration of adverse circumstances of World War II. The Government took strict precautions against especially lodges and cultishness and law enforces increased supervisions. The government kept off the mausoleums but it did not avoid working about their care. However these works did not come to a state of involving all mausoleums and not reach required standard. The end of World War II and legal implementations which related to religion as a result of transition process of multi-party system which began in Turkey were started to discuss clearly. The Republican People's Party entered in the process of moderation against dissident political parties' expediting of propaganda in these areas. The government which rang the changes of attitude about religious education and worship scrabbled for repairing and opening the mausoleums. In 1950, the Republican People's Party shortly before overthrowing, it was allowed to open Turkish elders' mausoleums. In this study, both lodge and the subject of cult and debates and developments about mausoleums between the years of 1938 and 1950 will be evaluated. First of all the press of the period, archival documents and parliamentary minutes were used to form the study. It was benefited from researches and academic dissertations as supportive resources. © 2022 Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University. All rights reserved.
