dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study to increase the conversion ratio of lactose hydrolysis to glucose and galactose via packed bed reactors containing immobilised enzyme and design a reactor that will achieve a high conversion ratio in continuous systems. For this purpose, the dynamic properties of a packed bed reactor containing immobilised ?galactosidase enzyme on Duolite A 568 resin were determined by a stimulus-response technique and moment analysis. The relation between kinetic behaviour and The dynamic response was determined via Peclet number (Pe) and Damkohler number (Da). This study was completed with the development of a mathematical model using parameters such as flow dynamics, column geometry, enzyme immobilization performance and the behaviour of the enzyme in the column. According to the results, the particle size, L/D ratio and flow rate appropriate for this system were determined as 390 ?m, 10 and 4 mL/min, respectively. Furthermore, 55% conversion of lactose from milk was obtained using the enzyme immobilized packed bed reactor.en_US
