Özet
Treatment of lumbar disc herniation is primarily conservative. Low back pain and most of neurological symptoms can be cured by conservative treatment. However published reports of spontaneous regression in lumbar disc herniations have been increased with introduce of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) into the clinical practice. The mechanism of spontaneous regression that observed in the lumbar region is not completely defined. Cauda equina syndrome, progressive motor deficit and intractable radicular pain are definitive indications for surgery. Patient choice for surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation is the most important factor affecting the outcome. In this paper, two cases of spontaneous regression of extruded herniated discs in lumbar region are presented. Possible mechanisms of spontaneous disc regression are discussed in the light of the literature. Copyright © 2011 by Türk Tibbi Rehabilitasyon Kurumu Derne?i.
