dc.description.abstract | Gynecomastia refers to a benign enlargement of the male breast. This article presents our method of gland removal through a modified areolar incision used in 8 patients having grade I and II (according to Simon classification) dense breast enlargement. The patients were operated in our clinic between 2008 and 2010 years. In technique, about 4x2 cm crescent-type skin excision is achieved along the inferior border of the areola. Thereby, the exposition of the glandular tissue becomes easier. We think that the wide exposure does not only provides safe excision but also helps to have a symmetrical result (bilateral). Average age of the patients was 30 years (range, 21-39 years). Mean breast tissue removal for each breast was 70.3 g (20-200 g). Mean operation time was 60 min. At late postoperative follow-up, all patients were satisfied with their aesthetic results. The technique we used provides better exposure than the simple incision. At result, we think that this technique makes the operation easier. | en_US |
