Abstract
The patient's desire to sleep and not feel, while undergoing painful or unpleasant diagnostic and therapeutic examinations causes frequent use of sedatives. Sedation is rising the incidence of respiratory depression associated with hypoxemia and the risk of acute respiratory failure. High-risk and critically ill patients are increasingly scheduled for endoscopic interventions under sedation. Non invasive ventilation offers additional safety in case of unexpected airway emergency during deep sedation procedures and provides an option different than general anesthesia. © 2021 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
