Özet
In order to understand the nuanced impact of remote working on gender equality in the Turkish context, this study examines women’s experiences of remote working, particularly in the banking sector, which has come to the fore with the COVID-19 pandemic. The study focuses on the banking sector in Turkey, an area where traditional gender roles and organizational structures may uniquely intersect with remote working arrangements. Using a grounded theory approach, the research aims to explore the impact of remote working on work-life balance, access to opportunities, career progression, and balancing childcare and domestic responsibilities through 20 in-depth interviews and observational studies. Preliminary findings suggest that remote working may exacerbate gender inequalities and create challenges for women’s career development. This pioneering research makes a unique contribution, especially in terms of timing, by providing a critical perspective on the future prospects of women and labor law in the context of changing labor paradigms, at a time when Turkey is drafting a new Labor Law. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Muharrem Kılıç and Sezer Bozkuş Kahyaoğlu; individual chapters, the contributors.
