| dc.description.abstract | Cinema and mythology are two fundamental aspects of human experience and narrative. The richness of storytelling tradition nourishes both and offers profound insights into sociology, psychology, belonging, social structures, existential issues, and universal themes. As a modern myth-making medium, cinema revitalizes humanity's archaic legacies and stories within a contemporary framework, reflecting human experiences, desires, and fears. This study examines the relationship between cinema and mythology, mainly through the lens of the Apollon and Dionysos dichotomy from Greek Mythology. Ari Aster's Midsommar (2019) presents a modern interpretation of this dichotomy, illustrating how cinema processes mythological elements and plays a role in creating meaning. The study analyzes the film's symbolic elements, character development, and narrative structure using a descriptive film analysis method, revealing how the conflict between Apollon and Dionysos is addressed in the conflict between culture and nature. Midsommar, as a folk horror psychological thriller, incorporates the beliefs of pagan culture, including elements of magic and superstition. The Apollon and Dionysos dichotomy conveyed through cinematic storytelling, emphasizes that these dualities are inseparable parts of a whole. t. | dc.description.abstract | Sinema ve mitoloji, insan deneyiminin ve anlatının iki temel yönüdür. Her ikisi de hikâye anlatma geleneğinin zenginliğinden beslenir ve sosyoloji, psikoloji, aidiyet, toplumsal yapılar, varoluşsal sorunlar ve evrensel temalar üzerine derinlemesine bir içgörü sunar. Modern bir mit üretme aracı olarak sinema, insanlığın arkaik miraslarını ve öykülerini modern bir çerçevede yeniden canlandırırken, insan deneyimini, arzularını ve korkularını yansıtır. Bu çalışma, sinema ve mitoloji arasındaki ilişkiyi, özellikle Yunan Mitolojisi'nden gelen Apollon ve Dionysos dikotomisi üzerinden incelemektedir.
