Özet

In the profit-focused business world, the need for a human touch is becoming increasingly critical. For employees who spend a significant portion of their lives at the workplace, colleagues and managers often constitute an essential part of their social network. The responses of this close-knit community during significant life events play a crucial role in managing stressful processes. One universal experience that every individual inevitably faces at different stages of life is the loss of a loved one. However, the leaves and support provided to employees grieving such a loss are often inadequate, and employees are generally expected to return to work and readjust swiftly. In this process, the support of colleagues and management becomes instrumental in facilitating this adjustment. This chapter provides an overview of the literature on grief, followed by an examination of studies addressing grief in the workplace. It concludes with an evaluation of alternative support models. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
