dc.description.abstractRectus sheath hematoma is an accumulation of blood in the sheath of the rectus abdominis, secondary to rupture of an epigastric vessel or muscle tear. Multiple different causes were reported in literature and anticoagulant treatment is one of the most important reason. It could occur spontaneously or after trauma. They are usually located infraumblically and often misdiagnosed as acute abdomen, inflammatory diseases or tumours of the abdomen. We herein reported a case of rectus sheath hematoma presenting with a mass in the abdomen and diagnosed by computerized tomography (CT). Rectus sheath hematoma is a rarely seen pathology, CT must be chosen for definitive diagnosis. Conservative treatment aproaches is the first and important treatment procedure. Surgical treatments have high mortality and complication risks, so clinicians should avoid surgical procedures. Copyright © 2012 by Türkiye Klinikleri.en_US
