Özet
is article, the study was based on such onomastic categories as anthroponyms, ethnonyms, toponyms hydronyms and theonyms, identified in the works of L.Ya. Lulye, in the “Russian-Circassian or Adyg Dictionary” and in historical and ethnographic articles. Onomastic material by L.Ya. Lulye collected during his stay in the Black Sea Shapsugia by directly interviewing the local Circassian (Adyghe) population and observing the ethnographic features of the subethnic groups of this region. In Shapsug anthroponym L.Ya. Lulye identifies the most common names. Each surname includes the ancestral roots of the branch. In his “Russian-Circassian or Adyg Dictionary” and in ethnographic articles he lists Adyghe ethnonyms. For history, the names of those subethnic groups that subsequently ceased to exist are of great interest. L.Ya. Lulye records more than a hundred hydronyms found on the territory of historical Circassia. Toponyms appear in ethnographic articles. Describing the beliefs and religious rituals of the Circassians, a number of polytheistic names are reported, among which traces of paganism are noted.
