dc.description.abstractThe theoretical studies both in Turkey and abroad especially over the last decade on the concept of “contemporaniety”, which is one of the most confusing description in art, has increased so much that there is no exact compromise on what the term literally refers to. Yet there are still common points between those opposite opinions. Although the debates seem to merge at the point where the artist can fullfill his/her own ideal only when he/she can be contemporary, there are considerable numbers of those who claim that art has lost much of its contextual and formal features on behalf of contemporaneity. In other words, the problem of contemporaneity has already become a suspicious issue and it has become inevitable to assess the work of art within the scope of socio-political, economical and cultural aspects of the environments in which it is exposed rather than with its artistic qualifications.
dc.description.abstractSanatta en muammalı ve kafa karıştırıcı terimlerden biri olan “çağdaş”lık üzerine özellikle son on yılda Türkiye ve yurt dışında yayınlanan teorik çalışmalar büyük bir artış gösterdi. Bununla birlikte terimin neye karşılık geldiğine yönelik net bir sonuca hala ulaşılmış değil. Öte yandan, söz konusu tartışmaların birleştiği ortak noktalar yine de var. Tartışmalar sanatın, sanatçının ancak çağdaş olabildiğinde kendi ülküsünü yerine getirdiği noktasında birleşiyor gibi görünseler de çağdaşlık için sanatın anlamsal ve biçimsel özelliklerinden çok şey yitirdiğini dile getirenler de azımsanmayacak derecede. Bir başka deyişle çağdaşlık meselesi artık şüphe götürür bir hale geldi ve sanat yapıtının sanatsal kaliteden ziyade sanatın teşhire çıktığı ortamların sosyo politik, ekonomik ve kültürel özellikleri çerçevesinde değerlendirilmesi kaçınılmaz oldu.
