With the increase in nature-based travel and awareness of environmental conservation, ecotourism has gained popularity globally since the 2000s, establishing itself as a significant sector of tourism characterized by environmentally responsible travel. Türkiye, with its abundant natural resources, offers unique experiences to visitors and possesses a high potential for ecotourism. Düzce, with its mountains, plateaus, proximity to transportation networks, natural richness, and vegetation, is a noteworthy destination for ecotourism. Education is one of the most critical components for the sustainability of tourism. As fundamental elements of education, teachers play a crucial role in fostering students' awareness of sustainability, environmental sensitivity, and social responsibility. This study aims to determine the perceptions of teachers working in schools affiliated with the Düzce Provincial Directorate of National Education regarding ecotourism. The questionnaire form was applied to the teachers online and data were collected from 320 participants. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and variance analysis (ANOVA). Additionally, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to identify the primary components of teachers' perceptions of ecotourism. As a result of the study, the perceptions of teachers in Düzce regarding ecotourism were analyzed, and various recommendations were proposed based on the findings. It has been observed that teachers in Düzce predominantly participate in ecotourism activities such as nature hiking, highland tourism, caving, camping and rafting; however, their participation in ecotourism activities such as birdwatching, botanical tourism, farm tourism and orienteering is relatively low.
