Lavandula genus, which belongs to Lamiaceae family, is represented by naturally grown three taxa that are Lavandula angustifolia Mill. subsp. angustifolia, L. pedunculata (Mill.) subsp. cariensis (Boiss.), and L. stoechas L. subsp. stoechas locally known as “karabaş". Additionally, one of the hybrid species Lavandin is grown in Isparta province. L. angustifolia, a medicinal species, is also cultivated in Turkiye. Volatile oils obtained from Lavender species are widely used all over the world in aromatherapy. Lavender species are generally used in Turkiye for wound healing topically and for antispasmodic, insomnia, and sedative effects. In this chapter, it was aimed to evaluate the botanical characteristics, ethnobotanical properties, phytochemical content, and volatile oil contents of both aerial parts of the plants. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Ufuk Koca-Caliskan; individual chapters, the contributors.en_US
