    The Perception of Forest Industry Engineering Students on Their Education and Professional Future (Düzce University Case)

    The Department ofForest Industry Engineering is carrying out higher education activities bypracticing contemporary education and training in the fields related toindustry of forest products and non-wood forest products with the aim ofraising Forest Industry Engineers who are searching and analytically thinking,socio-culturally equipped, environmentally and socially conscious, creative,innovative and enterprising. Within the frame of developing technologies,updated laws and employment opportunities, it is considered as important thatwhether or not the quality of the education received by the students of ForestIndustry Engineering meets the need of the students and the perception of thestudents about their occupational future should be defined. In this sense; thisstudy explores satisfaction status of Forest Industry Engineering students whostarted receiving education and training in 1995 in Düzce University, Facultyof Forestry about their department by analyzing their perception of educationand future. The questionnaire form made for that purpose was conducted inMay-June 2010 to 98 of the students who was receiving education in theeducation period of 2009-2010. Analysis of collected data reveals that %79.6 ofthe students was contented with the education in their department, %20.4 ofthem, however, was not contented. Also, %53 of the students did not considerthemselves as qualified for employment in private sector when they graduated,%71.4 of them thought that they would experience anxiety of finding a job whenthey graduated.
