Öğe An Evaluatıon on The Use of Receptıve Museum in Teachıng Turkısh As A Foreıgn Language: The Case of Kars Museums(Bayburt Üniversitesi, 2024) Yolcu, Emre; Bozkırlı, Kürşad Çağrı; Er, OnurThroughout the history of civilization, language has served as a tool for production and transmission, reflecting humanity's inherent need to coexist. By documenting every type of human experience and incorporating the diverse similarities and differences among nations, language constructs an unlimited, living museum of inclusivity. As a result, language establishes a collective social memory and inherently fosters intercultural fluidity and the need for foreign language acquisition, paralleling an individual's desire to communicate with others. Museums rank among the primary spaces that can be utilized to diversify learning environments and illustrate cultural elements in the foreign language learning process, which progresses more rapidly when cultural components of the target language are conveyed. This study aims to examine the museums of Kars within the context of receptive language competencies. The observation phase of the research included museums in the city center of Kars that actively receive visitors. The data collected during the research were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The findings highlight the significance of museums in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and emphasize the necessity of planning museum visits in accordance with the target audience.Öğe Examination of concept maps studies in terms of bibliometric features(Geomatik Journal, 2025) Polatcan, Faruk; Coban, Ismail; Er, OnurConcept maps are visuals that present the relationships between concepts on a hierarchical level. This hierarchical order is expected to be more easily adopted by learners. The aim of this study is to systematically analyze the studies on concept maps in Web of Science (WoS). For this purpose, bibliometric characteristics such as type of publication, language of publication, most cited publications, keywords, productive institutions and countries were analyzed for studies on concept maps between 1979 and 2025. The descriptive design of the quantitative method was used in the study. Map networks were created with the VOSviewer program from the data compiled with the keyword concept maps in the WoS database. The results of the research show that concept maps are a powerful tool to increase knowledge retention and transfer in learning processes. Another result obtained from concept maps research is that linguistic and cultural influences have an expanding or limiting effect on scientific studies.Öğe İkinci Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğrenen Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrencilerin Sosyal Faaliyetlere Katılmaya Yönelik Kaygıları(Uluslararası Türkçe Edebiyat Kültür Eğitim Derneği, 2022) Er, Onur; Şahin, Burak; Sarıtiken, HakanBu araştırmanın amacı yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin hedef dilde düzenlenen etkinliklere katılmaya yönelik kaygılarını incelemektir. Ancak söz konusu korku sosyal faaliyetler sonrasında ortadan kalkmıştır ve hiçbir öğrenci aşırı kaygılanmamıştır.Öğe The Mediating Role of Critical Reading Self-Efficacy Perception in the Effect of Philosophy of Education Dispositions on Curriculum Literacy(Sage Publications Inc, 2025) Er, Onur; Demir, OzdenThe study used a correlational design based on a cause-and-effect relationship among philosophy of education dispositions, critical reading self-efficacy perceptions, and curriculum literacy perceptions. Five theoretical models were proposed in light of the theories and research explaining the relationships between the variables. In addition, structural equation modeling was established to determine whether a significant difference existed between the mediator variable critical reading self-efficacy perception, predictor variable, and outcome variable. SPSS PROCESS macro, Model 4 (Version 4.1; Hayes, 2022) was used for mediation analysis. The study was conducted with 158 prospective Turkish language teachers determined by the non-probability cluster sampling method in Turkey in the fall semester of the 2023 to 2024 academic year. Path analysis was performed to determine the significance of the hypotheses. The results indicated that prospective teachers' philosophy of education dispositions and curriculum literacy perceptions affect each other positively, and critical reading self-efficacy perceptions and curriculum literacy perceptions affect each other positively. It was concluded that critical reading self-efficacy perception had a high mediating role in the effect of philosophy of education dispositions on curriculum literacy.Öğe Metacognitive Listening Strategies and Critical Listening Attitudes as Predictors of Teacher Candidates' Academic Listening Skills: A Structural Equation Modeling Analysis(Sage Publications Inc, 2025) Polatcan, Faruk; Bicer, Nursat; Er, OnurThe objective of this study is to ascertain the relative influences and predictive relationships between metacognitive listening strategies, critical listening attitudes and academic listening skills of Turkish teacher candidates. In consideration of the ease of accessibility and economic factors, the participants were selected through the utilization of the convenience sampling method, which is appropriate when the aim is to obtain a representative sample from an accessible population. A total of 223 teacher candidates enrolled at A University, B University, C University, and D University during the 2021 to 2022 academic year were included in the study. The participants were 161 females and 62 males. A theoretical model was constructed based on the findings of the literature review, and the relationships between these variables were tested using a structural equation model. In order to evaluate the fit of the data with the model, a series of goodness-of-fit indexes were calculated, including chi 2, RMSEA, CFI, GFI, and AGFI. The data were collected using the Critical Listening Attitude Scale, the Academic Listening Ability Scale, and the Metacognitive Listening Strategies Instrument. A correlation analysis and path analysis were conducted to examine the data using the SPSS v22 and AMOS v24 software packages, respectively. The findings indicate that metacognitive listening strategies are positively and significantly correlated with critical listening attitudes and academic listening skills. Nevertheless, the present study has demonstrated that metacognitive listening strategies are predictive of academic listening skills, and that this is mediated by critical listening attitudes. The results obtained in this study were discussed in the context of previous research, and accordingly, recommendations were made to practitioners, researchers, and policy makers working in this field.
