Adaptation of Statistics Anxiety Scale to Turkish: Validity and Reliability Study
(Ijate-Int Journal Assessment Tools Education, 2021) Durak, Ismail; Karagoz, Yalcin
The aim of this study is to adapt the Statistics Anxiety Scale (SAS) developed by Vigil-Colet et al. (2008) to Turkish. This study is expected to fill an important gap in the literature since no valid and reliable specific statistics anxiety scale developed or adapted in Turkish for undergraduate students in the literature is available. The sample consists of a total of 439 university students, 258 women and 181 men, studying at Diizce University. The construct validity of the Turkish form of SAS was examined by EFA and DFA. Also, for the criterion validity, a different statistics anxiety scale whose validity and reliability tested was used. As a result of EFA, a three-dimensional structure was obtained as in the structure of the original scale. According to the CFA results, which is the second analysis for construct validity, all fit index results of the model were at an acceptable level. Thus, the CFA results supported the three-factor structure obtained from EFA findings. As a result of the reliability analysis, the Cronbach's Alpha internal coefficients of the SAS and its subscales and, the Guttman and Spearman-Brown internal consistency coefficients of Split-Half Reliability methods were quite high and above the limit of 0.70. For item discrimination, items have good discrimination by obtaining all values above 0.30 lower limit in the results. When the results of the study are evaluated as a whole, the SAS form adapted to Turkish can be used as a guiding scale to measure the statistics anxiety of undergraduate students.

Application of AHP-TOPSIS methods in technopark selection of technology companies: Turkish case
(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2021) Durak, Ismail; Arslan, Hakan Murat; ozdemir, Yahya
The most prominent motivation for the technoparks are that technoparks promote innovation and technology, established to enhance the collaboration and cooperation between the university and companies. The opportunities that technopark offers are effective in the technopark selection of the companies. The aims of this study are to determine the criteria that the companies in the technoparks in Istanbul take into consideration in their technopark preferences and to select the most appropriate technopark based on these criteria. Criteria used in the study are proposed for the first time for selection of technoparks by authors. The sample studied is also used for the first time for technopark selection. To this purpose, current data obtained from the managers of the companies in the technoparks in Istanbul were used. In the application part, AHP and TOPSIS that are among multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods were used separately in the selection of the most appropriate facility location of the companies in Istanbul Technoparks. Result of the study shows that the most suitable facility location was the ITU by two different MCDMmethods. This study being among the first applications for the preference of technoparks for companies with the MCDM methods makes a distinguishing contribution to the field.

Statistical Process Control Methods For Determining Defects of Denim Washing Process: A Textile Case From Turkey
(Ege Univ, 2020) Ata, Serhat; Yildiz, Mehmet Selami; Durak, Ismail
The denim garments, which are made with many different sewing patterns, are given the final appearance by applying industrial washing processes and these are turned into high value-added fashion products. In this study, denim fabric control performed in a textile company, washing department after weaving for one month was investigated and as a result, washing defects are examined by using statistical methods. Pareto analysis, cause and effect diagram, and P control graphs, which are statistical process control methods, were used to classify the defects seen as a result of quality control. In Pareto analysis, chemical repair (20, 52 %), blue floor (19, 86 %), chemical intensive (19, 56 %), light floor (10, 71 %), deep floor (7, 95%) are in first five places among 53 defects and account for 78, 6 % of total number of defects. Of the 53 defects encountered during the washing process, it is found that only five of these defects could be prevented during the washing process, thus reducing the total waste by about 80%. In cause and effect diagram, washing defects are divided into categories as chemical, foreground, intensity, repair, tinctorial and processual and sub-dimensions as causes are determined. In the Laney P control chart, all processes are determined under control.
