Öğe Erratum to Factors affecting health-promoting behaviors in nursing students: A structural equation modeling approach(vol 48C,artn 102880,year 2020)(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2023) Şişman, Nuriye Yıldırım; Karaca, Aysel; Cangur, S.Nursing students are responsible for guiding the individuals to whom they provide service in the ways of health-promoting behaviors. Yet they themselves are required to integrate health-promoting behaviors into their own lives in order to protect their own health. The aim of the study was to evaluate the relationships between the health-promoting behaviors of nursing students and their self-efficacy, cognitive flexibility and cognitive distortions. This study utilized a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational design. The sample was composed of 649 nursing students studying in the undergraduate Nursing program. Correlations were examined via the structural equation modeling approach and the relationships between the variables were tested. The model demonstrated a good' fit since the RMSEA was lower than 0.05. Furthermore, the model fit indices showed an acceptable' fit since the (chi(2)/df) was lower than 3, the SRMR lower than 0.08 and the CFI and NNFI indices approached 0.95 except of GFI index. Although CDS did not have a significant effect on HPS (beta = -0.063, |t-value|< 1.96), CDS was found to be an effective variable by mediator variable SES(beta = -0.251, |t-value|> 1.96). CF can be said to have the strongest effect on both SES (beta = 0.508, t-value > 1.96) and HPS (beta = 0.491, t-value > 1.96), and the mediator variable SES has a strong effect on HPS (beta = 0.133, t-val-ue > 1.96. It is important for nursing students to achieve healthy life style skills during their education. In order to enable the development of these skills, cognitive distortions, cognitive flexibility and self-efficacy con-cepts should also be addressed in addition to health-promoting behaviours.Öğe Factors affecting health-promoting behaviors in nursing students: A structural equation modeling approach(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2020) Sisman, N. Yildirim; Karaca, A.; Cangur, S.Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program applied to a sample of Turkish nursing students. Method: The study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. Program sessions of 90-95 minutes were given twice a week for 12 weeks. The data were collected using the Nursing Education Stress Scale, the Mindfulness Scale, and the Stress Management Styles Scale. Results: A statistically significant difference was found in the mean post-test and mean follow-up scores obtained by the control group and the experimental group on the Nursing Education Stress Scale and its sub-dimensions. On the Mindfulness Scale, a statistically significant difference was found between the mean pre-test and post-test scores obtained by the experiment and control groups. Conclusion: The results derived from this study suggest that the mindfulness-based stress reduction program is effective in reducing the stress experienced by students during nursing education, increasing their mindfulness, strengthening their coping mechanisms for stress, increasing their use of self-confident and optimistic ap-proaches, and decreasing their use of the helpless approach.
