Öğe Distribution Of Microorganisms In Blood Culture And Antimicrobial Susceptiblity(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2013) Şahin, İdris; Öztürk, Elif; Yavuz, M Tevfik; Albayrak, Hilal Türkmen; Karadağ, Gülkan; Aytar, Asiye Altinöz; Çalışkan, EmelPurpose: In this study, the distribution of hospitalized patients and antimicrobial susceptibilityof microorganisms isolated from blood culture were investigated. Methods: Blood samples sent to our laboratory by taking Bactec 9050 automated blood culturemedia bottles (Becton Dickinson, USA) were incubated at 35 ° C and under normal atmosphericconditions. İdentification of microorganisms was used conventional methods and / or the APIidentification systems (bioMérieux, Etoile, Fransa). Kirby-Bauer Disk diffusion method and / orwas ATB STREP 5, ATB ENTEROC 5 (bioMérieux, Etoile, Fransa) performed for antibioticsusceptibility testing according the criteria of Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute.Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) production was investigated with disk diffusionscreening test in Gram-negative bacteria. Results: A total of 2,807 blood samples sent to our laboratory between July 2009 – 2010. 2,121(75%) patients of didn’t reproductive, 583 (21%) of the cases were positive, 103 (4%) of thecontamination was evaluated as an example. The most isolated pathogens, respectively, coagulasenegative staphylococci (CNS) (42.1%), Staphylococcus aureus (22%) and Escherichia coli (13%)were found. 54% KNS strains, 44 % S. aureus strains were resistant to methicillin. E. coli strainsof extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) prevalence of 14% and 21% of Klebsiella spp.strains were determined. İmipenem resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were identifiedby 39%. The sensitivity of E. coli strains, 93% of amikacin, piperacillin-tazobactam 95%, thesensitivity of Klebsiella spp. strains, 100% of amikacin, piperacillin-tazobactam 93% weredetermined. The results of the study were examined by comparing with similar studies. Conclusion: As a result, the distribution of bacteria isolated from blood cultures and antimicrobialsusceptibility patterns vary among centers, each center, therefore, thought to be useful in theirassessment of the results at regular intervalsÖğe Investigation of Extended Spectrum Beta- Laktamase Activity of Enterobacteriaceae Strains by Using Two Different Methods(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2005) Yavuz, M Tevfik; Ersan, Gürsel; Süvarierel, MehmetSporadic nosocomial infections caused by certain strains that produce ESBL can be related with serious complications in several institutions. Particulary, in that centers where anti-beta lactam antibiotics are widely utilized, it is usually observed that these bacteria colonize respiratory and/or gastrointestinal tract of the patients. In this study, hospital and community acquired 239 Enterobactericeae strains were isolated using Sceptor (BD USA) panels. The ESBL producing was studied by double disc synergy and E test (AB Biodisk Sweden) methods. There was no significant difference between the both methods. The both methods revealed 22% positivity of ESBL for Enterobactericeae isolated from hospital acquired cases. This ratio was detected 26% for Klebsiella and 25% for E. coli strains. Although, the numbers of cases were rather low, there was significant difference between nosocomial and community acquired strains for ESBL producing. Although low, ESBL producing were also observed among community acquired cases
