However, it has become more and more important in recent years. It is regulated within the state and by law. In line with the increasing interest, it has been inevitable that traditional medicine is fed with innovations.On the other hand, traditional and complementary medicine is still not fully understood in the eyes of the public and perceived as unscientific treatments. HoweverIt is also a problem that many products that can be called phytotherapeutic are not produced under appropriate conditions, in the right technology and with the right method. In order to overcome these problems, more studies should be done in the field of traditional medicine, and scientific findings should be transferred to the public better. Because today, traditional and complementary medicine is giving rise to new approaches. It develops and progresses parallel to science.Öğe Anticancer Effect of Food Supplements on Saos-2 Osteosarcoma Cell(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2020) Ağan, Kağan; Zarringhalami, Roshanak; Ağan, Aydan Fülden; Yaşar, MustafaObjective: Nowadays medicinal plants have been considered as complementary medicine in cancer treatment by many researchers. Osteosarcoma, one of the most common malignant tumors, which is more common at a young age; It is one of the most common types of cancer that occur in mesenchymal bone-forming cells and affect the musculoskeletal system. Today instead of cancer drugs due to their numerous side effects that can suppress or prevent cancer treatment, food supplement products that contain plant extracts may be preferred. In this study, the anticancer effects of five different food supplements were investigated on osteosarcoma Saos-2 cancer cell line. Material-Method: Application doses were as 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 µg/ml and IC50 values were calculated by creating two working groups of 24 and 48 hours. Results: Extracts of five different herbal product showed cytotoxic effect on Saos-2 cancer cell line due to their mixture of medicinal plants, however REGULIN® showed the most cytotoxic effect among them.Conclusion: It was determined that REGULIN® used in the remember regeneration therapy method (RTM), had the most anticancer effect in each of the 24 and 48 hour application groups. Cytotoxic effect of these food products on other cancer cell lines and their use in the pharmaceutical and health industries is recommended in future studies.Öğe Antiproliferative Effect of IST-GLIO® Supplement Food Product on C6 Glioma Cells(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Saraç, Güliz; Ağyar Yoldaş, Pınar; Ağan, Aydan Fülden; Kaya, ErtuğrulObjective: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and is characterized by the proliferation of abnormal cells. In recent years, as in the treatment of many diseases, there is also a return to nature in the treatment of cancer. In developing societies, the concepts such as prophylaxis of disease prevention rise to prominence in order to reduce the material and moral losses caused by disease treatment. Consequently, the use of supplementary food products occupies more and more space in daily life. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the antiproliferative properties of IST-GLIO® food supplement, which is one of these products and used in the Remember Regeneration Therapy Method (RTM), on C6 (rat glioma) cells.Material-Method: WST-1 cell proliferation test protocol was applied to examine the antiproliferative effect of IST-GLIO® and the results were evaluated according to ELISA microplate reading data. The product was tested at concentrations ranging from 1 ng/mL to 100 ng/mL. Results: When the results were evaluated, it was appeared to be effective in the concentration range of 6-20 ng/mL on the C6 glioma cell culture; it was found that the efficacy didn’t occur through general toxicity, specifically reducing the reproduction of the cancer cells in question, since food supplement did not inhibit cell division further at higher doses.Conclusion: As a result, non-specific toxicity is observed in many cultures that are similarly investigated in cell cultures, depending on concentration as high doses are obtained. The IST-GLIO® product does not show this feature is considered as promising.Öğe DVD-REG® TAKVİYE EDİCİ GIDA ÜRÜNÜNÜN AKUT SUB-AKUT TOKSİSİTESİNİN SIÇANLAR ÜZERİNDE ARAŞTIRILMASI(Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Saraç, Güliz; Sipahi, Nisa; Yoldaş, Pınar Ağyar; Ağan, Kağan; Ağan, Aydan Fülden; Şirin, NeslihanGeleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp alanında tıbbi olarak faydalı olduğu bilinen bitkilerin farklı oranlarda karışım olarak kullanılması oldukça yaygın bir kullanım alanı bulmuştur. İlaç üretimindeki maddi ve zamansal kısıtlamalar, tedavi yerine destekleyici bitkisel bileşenlerin kullanımı açısından önemli bir fayda sağlamaktadır. Bununla birlikte, bu bileşenleri oluştururken, bitkilerin kökeninden aktif maddeye ve kullanılabilecek doz aralığına kadar birçok alanda toksik olmayan dozu belirlemek gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada Remember Regeneration Tedavide (RTM) kullanıldığı bilinen DVD-REG® bitkisel takviyelerinin akut ve subakut toksisite analizleri yapılmıştır. Klinik gözlem bulguları ISO 10993-11:2017 standartlarına göre değerlendirilmiş olup kontrol ve uygulama grupları arasında herhangi bir değişikliğe ratlanılmamıştır. Hematolojik ve biyokimyasal kan parametreleri 0., 1., 7. ve 14. günlerinde değerlendirilmiş kontrol ve uygulama grupları arasında herhangi bir değişiklik tespit edilmemiştir. Histolojik açıdan toksisitenin araştırıldığı karaciğer, kalp, böbrek ve dalak dokularında gruplar arasında patolojik bir bulguya rastlanılmamıştır. Bu çalışma ile Türkiye’de kullanımakta olan gıda takviyesi DVD-REG®’in akut ve subakut etkileri araştırılmış olup elde edilen veriler kronik toksisite testleri için fayda sağlayacaktır.Öğe DVD-SNO® Takviye Edici Gıda Ürününün Sıçanlarda Akut Sub-akut Toksisitesinin Araştırılması(Sakarya Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Saraç, Güliz; Gök, Ali; Ağan, Kağan; Yoldaş, Pınar Ağyar; Şirin, NeslihanGeleneksel olarak sıklıkla kullanılan tıbbi bitkilerin bilinçsiz kullanımı bazı komplikasyonlara neden olabilmektedir. Bitkilerin toksisite testlerinin detaylı olarak araştırılması bitkisel ürünlerin olası etkilerinin belirlenmesi, takviye edici gıdaların üretiminde uygun dozun ayarlanması açısından önem arz etmektedir. DVD-SNO®, devedikeni tohumu (Silybum marianum), biberiye (Rosmarinus officinali), zerdeçal (Curcuma longa), şahtere (Fumaria officinalis), hindiba (Cichorium intybus) ve sinirli ot (Plantago majör) bitkilerinin kombinasyonuyla hazırlanmış bitkisel bir gıda takviyesidir. DVD-SNO® içeriğindeki bu bitkilerin geleneksel olarak kombine halde ya da ayrı ayrı kullanımları yaygındır ve sağlık için faydalı oldukları düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmada Remember Regeneration Tedavide (RTM) kullanılan DVD-SNO® ürününün akut ve sub-akut toksisitesinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Deney gruplarında 250-300 g ağırlığında sekiz aylık Wistar albino dişi sıçanlar kullanılmıştır. Çalışma ISO 10993-11, ISO 10993-2 ve ISO 10993-12 uluslararası test standartlarından yararlanılarak tasarlanmıştır. Kontrol grubuna salin, deney gruplarına 13,3 mg/mL DVD-SNO® takviye edici gıda ürünü gavaj yoluyla verilmiştir. Uygulama süreleri sonunda (akut toksisite için 1 gün ve sub-akut toksisite için 7 gün, sub-akut -sonrası toksisite için 14 gün) hayvanlardan kan ve doku örnekleri alındı. Kan örnekleri biyokimyasal ve hematolojik parametreler için analiz edildi. Kalp, karaciğer, akciğer, böbrek ve dalak dokularının histopatolojisi incelendi. İncelenen tüm parametreler, akut ve sub-akut toksisite açısından kontrol ve uygulama grupları arasında önemli bir farklılık taşımadığı görüldü. Sonuç olarak, sıçanlar üzerinde yapılan bu çalışmada DVD-SNO® ürününün günlük kullanım dozu akut ve sub-akut toksisite göstermemiştir.Öğe Effect of My Guard® Food Supplement on Acute and Subacute Toxicity on Rats(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Şenoğul, Oğuzhan; Şirin, Neslihan; Ağan, Aydan Fülden; Sipahi, Nisa; Ağan, KağanObjective: Today, in the field of traditional and complementary medicine, there has been a serious interest in medicinal plants and the treatment methods performed with the use of these plants. The use of natural resources in drug production studies and the promotion of these uses led to the advantage of reaching the drug at a reasonable cost with a rational method. However, these studies should be carried out with objective practices within the framework of scientific ethical rules. Investigating the toxicity dimension in studies related to the subject is also very important for human health to use these products. For this reason, the aim of the study is to determine the toxic symptoms of the My Guard® herbal mixture syrup which is a product used in the remember regeneration therapy method.Material-Method: In the experimental design, there were 4 groups (1 control and 3 application groups). To observe acute and subacute toxicity, clinical observation, the biochemical, hematological and histopathological parameters of the animals were evaluated at the end of the application times. Results: According to the results obtained from the study, there were not found significant differences in biochemical, hematological and histopathological evaluations between the control and the application groups. Conclusion: In our study, the toxic effects of My Guard® product in the dose mentioned in acute and subacute periods were not observed.Öğe Evaluation of Acute and Subacute Toxicity of ISY-CP® Food Herbal Mixture in Rats(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Şenoğul, Oğuzhan; Karadeniz, Beste; Gök, Ali; Ağyar Yoldaş, Pınar; Ağan, KağanObjective: Recently, there is a growing interest in medicinal and aromatic plants also the treatment methods by using these plants in traditional and complementary medicine. On the other hand, possible toxicities of medicinal and aromatic plants has lately begun to be researched and it is extremely important to cognize these possibilities for human consumption. Therefore, a research has been conducted to understand the acute/subacute toxicity characteristics of a plant based herbal mixture, ISY-CP® used in remember regeneration therapy method (RTM) in rats. The product contains a mixture of nettle leaves (Urtica dioica), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), thyme (Thymus vulgaris) and horsetail (Equisetum arvense) plants. The aim of this research was to examine the effects of ISY-CP® herbal mixture in term of toxicity. Material-Method: In the experimental design, 32 female rats were divided into 4 groups (control, acute, subacute and post-subacute). In order to observe acute and subacute toxicity, clinical observations were performed and the biochemical, hematological and histopathological parameters of the animals were evaluated at the end of the application. Results: According to the results obtained from the study, there were not found significant differences in biochemical, hematological and histopathological evaluations between the control and the application groups. Only phorphorus data is statistically different between subacute toxicity group and control group.Conclusion: In our study, the acute and subacute toxic effects of ISY-CP® herbal mixture’s doses used in this study were not observed.Öğe Systemic Investigation of Acute Toxicity of Some Food Supplements on The Market in Turkey(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2020) Yaşar, Mustafa; Şenoğul, Oğuzhan; Gök, Ali; Ağan, Kağan; Ağan, Aydan Fülden; Beyazçiçek, Ersin; Kantarcıoğlu Coşkun, SinemObjective: Along with changing living and working conditions in recent years, changes have occurred in eating habits. People are turning to supplements for many purposes such as supplementing normal nutrition, feeling more energetic, enhancing the immune system by taking vitamins and minerals that they think they do not get enough, and meeting their body's needs when they cannot eat a balanced and healthy diet. Supplements are prepared in various forms using nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, plants, enzymes, fiber and fatty acids. These supplement foods are not intended to treat or prevent any disease. In general, supplement foods; it is not a substitute for natural nutrition, but it is intended to complement its deficiencies. They cannot be recommended and sold instead of medicines. Because of many of these products have natural content, they can be placed on the market without toxicity tests. In the current study, it is planned to observe the effects of acute systemic toxicity of supplements that are used in remember regeneration therapy method (RTM) and sold in the markets with the brands’ name of IST-ARD®, ARD-REM®, DVD-ARD®, KT-REM®, ARDZ-REM®, IST-GLIO®, IST-REM®, ROMX®, and REGULIN®. Material-Method: In the experimental design, there were 10 groups (1 control and 9 application groups) male mice. To observe acute toxicity, clinical observation was performed for 72 hours and the biochemical and histopathological parameters of the animals were evaluated at the end of the application. Results: According to the results obtained from the study, there were not found significant differences in biochemical and histopathological evaluations between the control and the application groups. Conclusion: The acute toxicity effect of the food supplements was not determined. May be further studies with bigger numbers of samples investigating the nephrotoxic effects of these products lighten this matter.
