    The Relationship between Eating Attitudes and Eating Habits, Anthropometry and Demographic Characteristics in High School Students

    The aim of the study is to determine relations between eating attitude and food consumptions in girls who were attending in high schools in Samsun city center. Randomly selected 100 students from this universe were sample of this research. A questionnaire which contains individual property, food consumption frequency and Eating Attitude Test questions were applied to students. The mean body mass index of students was 21.37±3.69 kg/m² and 21% of them were lean, 66% normal and 13% overweight. 14% of students had Eating Attitude Test score ?30 point, it means increased risk for eating disorder. There wasn’t relation between eating attitude and body mass index (p gt;0.05) but when body mass index values increased, Eating Attitude Test values also increased. The turn of children in her family wasn’t related with eating attitude (p gt;0.05), furthermore Eating Attitude Test scores of the first children were higher than others and weren’t relations between mothers age, educational level and job with child’s eating attitude (p gt;0.05). The most frequently consumed foods every day were bread, white cheese, black olive, fruit and vegetable (71.00%, 61.10%, 54.00%, 45.00% and 48.90% respectively). Misinformation affect negatively physical and mental health and school performance in adolescents which experiencing significant development of them. Therefore, it was concluded that it would be useful to put nutrition courses to primary school curriculum and explain importance of nutrients adequate and balanced nutrition.
