Modern fine arts has been constructed in the 19th century upon a West-centric social history. This is the modernism era when the previous knowledge structures has been destructed and the rational critical mind has prevailed instead. This article utilizes a reading approach on art from an external perspective through associating the interconnection between modernism and modern fine arts with the features of modernity, power, and social structures. Thus, the points of why modern rational mind needs the creativity of modern fine arts and the relation between modern art movements and modernism are tried to be highlighted. Furthermore, the distinction between the art-lover and the “art-lover” constituted by the capitalist modernity is revealed. It is stated how modern institutions should be so that modern fine arts can be supra-class on this very distinction
