SURVEY STUDIES OF THE ANOBIIDAE AND LYCTIDAE FAMILIES (COLEOPTERA) IN WOOD DEPOTS AND WOOD FACTORIES OF SOME PROVINCES IN TURKEY

In this study Anobidae andLyctidae family beetles, which damage in the woods of plant factories in theforest industry sector and forest depots in the western Black Sea region, werecollected and identified. 9 factories and 21 wood depots area were selected in 7provinces (Düzce, Bolu, Zonguldak, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu, and Sinop) inTurkey. The insects were collected on 20x50 cm working area on woods in wooddepots and factory raw material fields. The insects were collected followinginsect holes on the raw materials in the study areas. Larvae, pupae and adultof the insects were collected and determined according to insect determiningkeys. Anobium punctatum, Lyctus brunneus, Xyletinus sp. and Xestobiumrufovillosum insects were found from Anobidae and Lyctidae (Coleoptera) familyinsect groups. Lyctus brunneus was found only sapwood while Anobium punctatumwas found heartwood and sapwood. Anobium punctatum was very common and highestnumber of insect in this study. The highest Anobium punctatum number was foundon oak wood. Generally, the insects were fund in woods trunk. As a result itwas suggested that infected wood materials and not infected woods should notwait together and same area in log depots and factory areas.
