Öğe The Effect of Ozone Treatment on Thermal Burn Wound Healing; an Experimental Study(2020) Peker, Kemal; Yılmaz, İsmayil; Demiryılmaz, İsmail; Isık, Arda; Sayar, Ilyas; Gürsul, Cebrail; Çoban, AbdulkadirObjective: Ozone has been advised as a metabolic excitative in cell, immunomodulatory agent and antioxidant enzyme actuator. The present study was performedto designate the profit of ozone therapy on the burn wound healing in the rats. Methods: 40 adult Wistar type rats divided into 4 groups: a control group (burn notcreated and topical and systemic agents not used), a burn group (burn created but onlysaline given), a burn+silver sulfadiazine group (silver sulfadiazine was applied for 21days), a burn+ozone/oxygen mixture group (ozone/oxygen mixture was applied for 21days).After anesthetizing, second-degree burn (2 cm2areas) was done on the dorsal ofthe animals byaluminum plate in boiling hot water (100 ?C for 15 seconds) and othergroups except control group were treated topically, based on the time scheduled.Tissue samples were harvested on day 7st and 21st after burn injury. Biochemical andhistological analyzes were performed in tissue and blood samples. The results wereassessed with appropriate statistical tests and given as Means±SD.Results: The histopathologic damage level was significantly different in all groups.Fibrosis and inflamation levels decreased in ozone treatment and silver sulphadiazinegroups compared to burn+normal saline group on the 21 days according to 7 days. Inthe ozone treatment group, Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase activities weresignificantly higher than the silver sulfadiazine treated group. But glutathionereductase enzyme activities were lover in the ozone treated group and hydroxyprolineconcentration decreased in ozone group compared to burn+normal saline group on 7and 21 days. Conclusions: Ozone has a detractive effect in the development of inflamation, fibrosis, and granulation via decreasing tissue damage and increasing the antioxidantenzyme activity on burn wound healing.Öğe Liver Transplantation in a Patient with Absent Inferior Vena Cava: Case Report(2020) Dönmez, Ramazan; Kargı, Ahmet; Yazar, Şerafettin; Aslan, Serdar; Peker, Kemal; Polat, Kamil YalçınTransplantation procedure used if the recipient and donor do not have a special anatomicalvariation today; left lateral segment in the pediatric age group, and right lobe in the adult agegroup. Biliary atresia in children and various liver diseases like metabolic events in adults arethe major causes of liver transplantation. Liver transplantation is challenging in the patientswith congenital vascular anomalies. Infrahepatic interruption of the inferior vena cava (IVC)is a rare congenital anomaly with the incidence of 0.6% to 2% and mostly found withcongenital heart disease. In this study we tried to report a 58-year old male patient with adiagnosis of decompensated liver cirrhosis caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) who washospitalized for the first time for living donor liver transplantation.Öğe The Results of Liver Transplantation Performed In a Single Center Due To Hepatocellular Carcinoma(Duzce Univ, Fac Medicine, 2023) Aslan, Serdar; Yazar, Serafettin; Kargi, Ahmet; Kurnaz, Eray; Sahin, Dilek; Peker, Kemal; Astarcioglu, IbrahimObjective: Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) is the most common malignancy of the hepatobiliary system. There are significant differences in the global spread of HCC. It is the major cause of death in patients with cirrhosis. Its molecular pathogenesis is highly complex and heterogeneous. Major risk factors for the development of HCC are chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and alcohol related liver cirrhosis. Hepatocellular cancer is rarely seen in the first 4 decades of life, except in communities where HBV infection is hyperendemic. Methods: The study was conducted by retrospectively scanning the files of 204 patients diagnosed with HCC who applied to Organ Transplantation Center between 21.09.2014 and 13.04.2019. Patients were transplanted liver by being classified according to Milan criteria, San Francisco [University of California San Francisco (UCSF)] criteria, and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) criteria. Results: The median age of the patients was 58.03 (range 31 to 72). 170 of the patients were men and 34 of them were female. Liver transplantation (LT) was performed from cadaveric donors to 31 patients and from living donors to 173 patients. There is a significant relationship between the life span of the patients and their gender. Female patients have a longer life expectancy [t (202) = 2.963, p =0.003]. A significant relationship was found between life expectancy and surgical classification [F (3) = 3.008, (p =0.031)].Conclusions: In patients diagnosed with HCC and undergoing LT; the gender being female and the classification method before transplantation affect life expectancy.Öğe The Role of Early Period ERCP in Acute Biliary Pancreatitis?(Duzce Univ, 2021) Aslan, Serdar; Peker, Kemal; Yildirgan, Mehmet IlhanObjective: Acute pancreatitis; It can be defined as a clinical picture that occurs as a result of non_bacterial inflammation of the pancreas and may progress with pathological findings. For years, various studies have been conducted on the use of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreotography and Endoscopic Sphincterotomy for therapeutic purpose in Acute Pancreatitis. For years, various studies have been conducted on the use of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreotography and Endoscopic Sphincterotomy for therapeutic purpose in Acute Pancreatitis. In our study, we aimed to examine either the effectiveness of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreotography and Endoscopic Sphincterotomy in patients with mild severity, and how the endoscopic procedure affects the course of the disease. Methods: In this study, patients with mild pancreatitis were selected among the patients who applied to the Department of General Surgery, of Ataturk University Faculty of Medicine and diagnosed with acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP). After the patients were separated according to the mild pancreatitis, early (within 72 hours) and late period, they were randomly selected to be performed Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreotography and Endoscopic Sphincterotomy. 59 patients were detected in this way. Results: Twelve (20.3%) of the patients included in our study were male, and 47 (79.7%) were female, and their ages were between 25-75 years (mean 64.3 years). Two groups were created in order to perform ERCP/ES in the early and late periods. All patients had acute onset abdominal pain and serum amylase levels have been ranging between (1012-7660 UI/L). Conclusions: In patients with mild acute biliary pancreatitis, there is no significant difference in the early (first 72 hours) ERCP/ES results compared to the results of patients with ERCP/ES in the late period.Öğe Urinary Bladder Hernia, Rarely Seen and Difficult to Diagnose: Report of Two Cases(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2014) Göçer, Serhat; Eken, Hüseyin; Peker, Kemal; Çelebi, Bülent; Yılmaz, İsmayil; Çavdar, FarukHerniation of the bladder into inguinal canal is rarely seen and constitute about 1-4% of allinguinal hernias. Diagnosis before surgery is important in the prevention of potentialcomplications. In this article we reported two cases in one of which complication occurredcomplication occured during inguinal hernia surgery
