    An Investigation of the Knowledge and Attitudes of Medical Faculty Students on Traditional and Complementary Medicine

    Purpose: Traditional and complementary medicine, which is being used more and more all over the world, has also become widespread in our country. However, the medical school could not find enough place in the curriculum. In this study, it was aimed to show the level of knowledge and awareness of medical faculty students about traditional and complementary medicine.Method: In the study, an e-questionnaire was delivered to the 1st and 6th grade students of the medical faculty with the help of "Google Forms". A 24-question survey consisting of GETAT application methods and some descriptive questions was applied to the participants. Analyzes were analyzed by SPSS.Results: A total of 166 medical faculty students participated in the study. Most of the students were female students (% 62). Students from all classes participated in the study. The students stated that they knew the most about acupuncture and the least about plorotherapy. Nearly half of the students (46.4%) thought that GETAT applications should be included in the medical school curriculum. It was observed that towards upper grades, students stated their GETAT knowledge level more.Results and Discussion: It was observed that medical faculty students were frequently interested in GETAT applications, but they did not find their knowledge sufficient on this subject. In this sense, new education models and curriculum arrangements are needed.

    Larva Treatment From Past to Present in Chronic Wounds

    ‘’Maggot Debridement Therapy" (MDT), known as larval therapy, is one of the traditional and complementary medicine practices with a history of application from ancient times to the present day. It is used in the treatment of chronic wounds that do not heal with conventional treatments. There are many case histories of successful treatment of stubborn wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers with MDT. Since it reduces the need for antibiotics and does not have any known significant side effects, it is an FDA approved treatment method that is now frequently used. In this review study, it is aimed to explain the development steps of MDT from past to present and its application methods and to discuss its medical importance in the light of the literature.

    Turkey's First Traditional and Complementary Medicine Student Community

    AbstractAs known; In Turkey, Traditional and Complementary Medicine Practices are continuing to build the infrastructure based on evidence under the control of the Ministry of Health.Following these processes, it was realized that there was a need for a formal student organization that would accurately convey the important steps and developments taken to health students. Due to this need, the necessary step was taken in Düzce University Faculty of Medicine.The purpose of this article is; health is to introduce students to the process of integration and providing medical training GETAT first year student community in the area of Turkey, which aims to create awareness starting from the GETAT and purpose.
