Öğe Assessment of psychometric characteristics of the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale in patients with preexisting psychiatric disorders(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2021) Karaahmet, Elif; Angin, Ulkem; Yilmaz, Onat; Deniz, Derya; Konuk, NumanThis study aimed to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish version of the CAS in a Turkish psychiatric outpatient setting. A total of 198 patients with a preexisting psychiatric disorder completed the CAS scale. The scale's validity and reliability were evaluated using convergent and concurrent validity, internal consistency, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and ROC analysis. The Turkish version of CAS might help physicians assess the COVID-19 associated anxiety in patients with psychiatric comorbidities.Öğe Evaluation of mood disorder questionnaire positivity and associated factors in a population-based screening study(Springer Int Publ Ag, 2022) Konuk, Numan; Karaahmet, Elif; Angin, Ulkem; Kılıç, Alperen; Kokrek, ZekeriyaThe Mood Disorders Questionnaire (MDQ) is a 3-item scale that is frequently used in bipolar disorders (BD) screening and questions the symptoms of BD, its effect on functionality, and the coexistence of symptoms. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of positive screening of the MDQ among general population and to investigate the associated risk factors. In this cross-sectional study, the sample was randomly selected from household data to represent the city population. A total of 432 participants were asked to fill in MDQ, CAGE (cutting down, annoyance by criticism, guilty feeling, and eye-openers) questionnaire, which consists of four clinical interview questions proven to aid in the diagnosis of alcoholism, and clinical and sociodemographic data form. The Cronbach's alpha value of our current study was 0.813 for MDQ. The prevalence of MDQ positivity was found 7.6%. The estimated prevalence rate of bipolar disorders varied between 0.3 and 13.4% according to different cut-off values. Multivariate logistic regression models showed that the presence of possible alcohol addiction, shift work history, and body mass index (BMI) were statistically significant predictors of MDQ positivity. The prevalence of MDQ positivity found is similar to studies in literature. Keeping in mind that psychometric properties of the MDQ, positive screen results should be cautiously interpreted due to the presence of other risk factors and comorbidities.Öğe Food Addiction: Association with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Impulsivity(Yerkure Tanitim & Yayincilik Hizmetleri A S, 2022) Sevinçer, Güzin Mukaddes; Konuk, Numan; Batar, NazlıObjective: The aim of the present research is to investigate food addiction and its relationship with ADHD symptoms and impulsivity in a non-clinical sample. Methods: Eight hundred and twenty-six (women: 532; men: 294) university students volunteered and took part in the study. Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS), Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1), Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11 (BIS-11) scales were applied to the participants and their anthropometric measurements were taken. Analyses were conducted using SPSS version 22. Results: 109 subjects were classified as food addicts. The food addict group significantly had higher Body Mass Index (BMI) (p <0.001). The subscore of inattentiveness, subscore of hyperactive/impulsiveness and total ASRS scores were significantly higher in food addicted group (p <0.001). BMI was greater in the food addiction and ADHD comorbidity group compared to the food addiction only group (X2=24.86; p=0.003). The lineer regression analysis revealed that the increased hyperactivity - impulsiveness measured by ASRS (13=0,027), motor impulsiveness measured by BIS-11 (13=0.030) and BMI (13=0.037) found to be correlated with higher YFAS scores (F=10.384; p=0.000) when age and sex factors are controlled.) YFAS scores were statistically higher in potential ADHD group. (According to the ASRS cut-off score >= 24). Conclusion: Evaluation of the presence of ADHD might be an important issue in determining treatment for obesity in individuals with food addiction. The clinicians must be aware of the pitfalls associated with the comorbidity and consider screening patients with food addiction for ADHD.Öğe Gece Yeme Anketi-Türkçe Formunun psikiyatrik ayaktan hasta popülasyonunda geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik çalışması(2014) Atasoy, Nuray; Saraçlı, Özge; Konuk, Numan; Ankaralı, Handan; Güriz, S. Olga; Akdemir, Asena; Atik, LeventAmaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, psikiyatrik ayaktan hasta popülasyonunda Gece Yeme Sendromunun (GYS) şiddetini ölçmek için kullanılan Gece Yeme Anketinin (GYA) Türkçe sürümünün geçerlilik ve güvenilirliğini değerlendirmektir. Tartışma: Bu çalışmaya göre GYA'nın Türkçe sürümünün geçerli bir test olduğu, iyi tanısal özellik gösterdiği ve iç tutarlılığının yeterli olduğu söylenebilirÖğe İş yerinde yıldırmaya maruz kalımı ölçmek için kullanılan Olumsuz DavranıĢlar Anketi Türkçe formunun güvenilirliği(Cumhuriyet Univ Tip Fak Psikiyatri Anabilim Dali, 2013) Karaahmet, Elif; Kıran, Sibel; Atik, Levent; Atasoy, Nuray; Saraçlı, Özge; Ankaralı, Handan; Konuk, NumanObjective: The exposure to negative acts at work is one of the main issues highlighted adverse health effects within the scope of work life's psychosocial dimension. Mobbing is defined as both the most common one among the causes of stress being at work, and also more devastating and damaging than the other stressors of the work. The aim of the present study was to examine the reliability of the Turkish version of the Negative Act Questionnaire (NAQ-TR). Methods: The questionnaire was first translated into Turkish and then back translated into English and the equivalence of both versions was determined. An expert group analyzed the formulation of the translated items and they redrafted some of them according to agreedon criteria. Subsequently, it was administered to 456 workers from 11 different workplaces. The factor structure and internal consistency of the NAQ-TR was examined. Result: The instrument showed satisfactory internal consistency with an overall Cronbach a of 0.912. The factor analysis, as opposed to the original scale, yielded four factor solution (Personal bullying and isolation, Work-related bullying, destabilization and excessive workload). We found that NAQ-TR has high internal consistency. Conclusions: The Turkish version of NAQ was found to be reliable for mobbing in workplace. It can be used in epidemylogic trials.Öğe İş yerinde yıldırmaya maruz kalımı ölçmek için kullanılan Olumsuz Davranışlar Anketi Türkçe formunun güvenilirliği(2013) Karaahmet, Elif; Kıran, Sibel; Atik, Levent; Atasoy, Nuray; Saraçlı, Özge; Ankaralı, Handan; Konuk, NumanAmaç: İş yerinde olumsuz eylemlere maruz kalma, çalışma yaşamında işin psikososyal boyutu kapsamında sağlığa olumsuz etkileri vurgulanan temel konulardan biridir. Ölçek, on bir farklı iş yerinden 456 işçiye uygulandı. Sonuç: Olumsuz Davranışlar Anketi Türkçe Formu, iş yerinde yıldırmanın saptanması ve izlenmesi için güvenilir bir ölçektir ve epidemiyolojik çalışmalarda kullanılabilir.Öğe The prevalence and clinical features of the night eating syndrome in psychiatric out-patient population(W B Saunders Co-Elsevier Inc, 2015) Saraçlı, Özge; Atasoy, Nuray; Akdemir, Asena; Güriz, Olga; Konuk, Numan; Sevinçer, Güzin Mukaddes; Atik, LeventObjective: In this study we aimed to investigate the prevalance and clinical correlations of night eating syndrome (NES) in a sample of psychiatric outpatients. Method: Four hundred thirthy three consecutive psychiatric out-patients older than 18 years were evaluated in the outpatient clinics using clinical interview according to the DSM-IV with regard to psychiatric diagnosis. Participants were also screened for presence of NES utilizing both clinical interview and self report based on Night Eating Questionnaire (NEQ) instruments. Sociodemographic and clinical features such as age, gender, education level, socioeconomic level and body mass index (BMI) were also recorded. The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) and the Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL-90R) were administered. Results: Based on the proposed diagnostic criteria of the NES via utilizing clinical interview method, 97 (32 male, 65 female) of the sample met diagnostic criteria for NES. The point prevalence of NES was 22.4%. No statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in terms of age, gender, marital status, education and BMI. The patients with NES had higher NEQ, BSQ and SCL-90R subscale scores than patients without NES. Prevalance of depressive disorder, impulse control disorder, and nicotine dependency was higher among patients with NES. No differences were found with regard to the medication (antipsychotics, antidepressants and mood stabilizers). Conclusion: Night eating syndrome is prevalent among psychiatric outpatients and associated with depression, impulse control disorder, and nicotine dependency. Body dissatisfaction and higher symptom severity are also other risk factors for the development of NES. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc.
