Öğe Chart of Uncompleted Suicide Behavior Regarding Individual, Social and Psychological Factors(Kamla-Raj Enterprises, 2016) İskender, Murat; Koç, Mustafa; Soyer, Fikret; Çolak, T. Seda; Düşünceli, Betül; Arıcı, NeslihanThe purpose of the study was to construct a profile of uncompleted suicide attempts regarding individual, social and psychological factors. The study was carried out through a qualitative research method with 194 females and 44 males, totally 238 individuals who attempted to commit suicide. Data was obtained through a structured interview form by means of interviewing face-to-face with participants analyzed by frequencies and percentages. Suicide characteristics that have been frequently seen in individuals who attempt to suicide are mostly women, whose age is between 15-20, are first child, are single and high school graduates, whose economical level is moderate, live in country town and do not have any job, have inconsistent parental attitude and weak interfamilial relations, had no trauma experience and psychological support, have low level of social support perception, do not use any drug, had attempted to suicide before, who have self-blames before a suicide attempt, and who did not leave a message before the attempt.Öğe Çocukluk tanıklığından yetişkinlik deneyimine: Örtük ebeveynden benliğe ve ilişkiye uzanan aktarım(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2025) Kelek, Şehide; Koç, MustafaAile, bireyin dünyaya adım attığı ilk andan itibaren benliğini ve ilişkisel örüntülerini şekillendiren birincil deneyim alanı olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Sağlıklı aileler ise sağlıklı evlilikler üzerine inşa olmaktadır; çünkü evlilik ilişkisi bir ailenin çekirdeğini oluşturur. Evlilik ilişkisi sadece çiftlerle ilişkili bir durum değil, çocuklara da yansıyan bir olgudur. Ebeveynler arası ilişkinin, çocuklukta başlayan ve yetişkinliğe uzanan kalıcı etkiler bıraktığı ve nesiller arası aktarım yoluyla çocukların ilerideki kendi evlilik ilişkilerine yansıdığı bilinmektedir. Ancak bu ilişkinin çocukların iç dünyasında nasıl deneyimlendiğini ve anlamlandırıldığını, ardından kendi benliklerine ve ilişkilerine nasıl yansıdığını, ayrıca bu aktarım sürecine ait gömülü dinamikleri ve sürecin nasıl işlediğini açıklamaya yönelik kavramsal ve kuramsal düzeyde bir boşluk bulunmaktadır. Söz konusu boşluktan hareketle, bu araştırma çocuklukta ebeveynler arası ilişkiye tanıklığın bireyler tarafından hangi bağlamsal koşullarda nasıl anlamlandırıldığını, hangi duygulanımsal ve etkileşimsel işlemlemeler yoluyla içsel ve ilişkisel örüntülere dönüştüğünü ve yetişkinlikte özellikle evlilik ilişkisi bağlamında nasıl yeniden üretildiğini açıklayan özgün bir süreç modeli geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, katılımcı deneyimlerinden elde edilen kavramsal kategoriler temel alınarak yeni bir kuramsal model geliştirebilmek için nitel araştırma desenlerinden gömülü teori benimsenmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcıları, ölçüt ve kuramsal örnekleme yöntemleriyle belirlenen 8 kadın ve 5 erkek olmak üzere toplam 13 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmış; her katılımcıyla 2-6 oturum arasında, 1 saat 53 dakika ile 6 saat 12 dakika süren derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Kuramsal doygunluk sağlanıncaya dek sürdürülen veri toplama ve analiz süreci, gömülü teorinin sürekli karşılaştırmalı analiz ilkesi doğrultusunda eşzamanlı yürütülmüştür. Tüm veriler MAXQDA-20’ye aktarılmış; açık, eksen ve seçici kodlama aşamalarıyla kavramsallaştırılmış, ilişkiler kurulmuş ve çekirdek kategori belirlenerek diyagram aracılığıyla süreç modeli görselleştirilmiştir. Bulgular, örtük ebeveynden benliğe ve ilişkiye uzanan aktarım olarak tanımlanan çekirdek kategori etrafında şekillenmiş ve aktarım dinamiklerini açıklayan bir süreç modeli ortaya koymuştur. Analiz sonucunda, kendi içlerinde çeşitli kategoriler barındıran on ana temaya ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, ebeveynler arası ilişkinin aile çatısı altında çocuklar için örtük bir ebeveyn işlevi üstlendiğini ve bu örtük ebeveynin çocukların benlik örgütlenmeleri ile ilişkisel örüntülerini nasıl şekillendirdiğini ortaya koymuştur. Çocuklar, anne ve babalarının ebeveynlik ve eşlik rollerini birbirinden net bir şekilde ayrıştırabilmekte; ayrıca ebeveynleri arasındaki ilişkisel dinamiğe bağlı olarak nasıl bir eş olduklarına dair eş ebeveyn temsilleri geliştirmektedir. Bu temsillerin yalnızca bilişsel tanımlamalardan ibaret olmadığı, onlara eşlik eden duygulanımlar, karşılanmamış ihtiyaçlar, korku ve kaygılar ile bu psikolojik dinamiklerden beslenen çıkarımlarla birlikte yapılandığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca katılımcıların eş anne ve eş baba temsillerini, bu temsillere eşlik eden psikolojik dinamiklerle birlikte içselleştirerek benlik temsillerine dönüştürdükleri bulunmuştur. Analizler sonucunda benlik temsillerine dönüşen dört tür eş ebeveyn temsili belirlenmiştir. Bunlar; içselleştirilmiş eş anne, içselleştirilmiş eş baba, karşıt eş anne ve karşıt eş baba temsilleridir. Bu temsillerin katılımcıların o anki yaşam deneyimlerine, içsel süreçlerine ve kişilerarası ilişkilerine bağlı olarak farklı zamanlarda farklı biçimlerde açığa çıktığı gözlemlenmiştir. Tüm bu temsillerin katılımcıların benlik örgütlenmelerine dâhil olduğu ve birbirinden bağımsız yapılardan ziyade dinamik bir etkileşim ve çatışma içinde işlev gördüğü fark edilmiştir. Bu dinamik örgütlenmenin, katılımcıların özellikle kendi evlilik ilişkilerinde sergiledikleri eş rolleri ve eşlerine dair algıları üzerinden dışa vurulduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu bulgulara ek olarak, ebeveynler arası ilişkiden bireyin kendi ilişkisine uzanan aktarım sürecindeki ortak bir işleyişin yanı sıra kişilere özgü belirli faktörlerin de farklı bağlamlarda devreye girerek sürecin seyrini etkilediği ortaya konmuştur. Elde edilen bulgular ilgili literatür çerçevesinde ayrıntılı bir şekilde tartışılmış ve araştırmacılar, uygulayıcılar ve politika yapıcılara yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur. SedaThe main purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of the Psychoeducational Effective Parenting Program Application on reducing the symptoms of the use of psychoactive substances. The research was carried out by the, use of a pretest-posttest control group design-oriented experimental method. The experiment and, control groups. consist of families of students who have high levels of symptoms on the use of psychoactive substances. The research data was collected through interviews. A "Semi-Structured Interview Questionnaire" was used for teacher, director and family interviews in order to determine the students, who use psychoactive substances and learn about their history of substance use and for the determination of psychoactive substance use levels of students, a "Structured Interview Questionnaire" was used. The data was grouped in pretest-posttest and follow-up test. Analyses were conducted in order to, test the effectiveness of the Psychoeducational Effective Parenting Program Application between the individuals' levels of having symptoms of psychoactive substance use at different times. The research was conducted with 347 university students from Sakarya University Faculty of Education, 243 of whom were female and 104 of whom were male. A ranking chart was used to determine the rank of fulfilment of the five basic needs of the students, as in the Maslow's hierarchy of needs, (physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization), by social support systems (family, relatives, friends, teacher-school, and society). The data was analyzed by rank order judgment scaling. As a result of the research, it was found that university students regard family as the primary social support system in meeting all their needs (physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization). The ranking does not change in meeting the needs of safety, love and belonging, and esteem; in meeting the physiological needs, it was observed that relatives are preferred more than friends. Another finding of the research is that in meeting the need for self-actualization, relatives are preferred the least.Öğe Forgiveness Flexibility(Mustafa ÖZGENEL, 2016) Çolak, Tuğba Seda; Koç, MustafaForgiveness flexibility is the skill to minimize the negative effect of an event by using cognitive, affective and behavioral skills while taking a stand at the end of an injurious process. A number of studies were conducted to test the flexibility of the structure of forgiveness. The theoretical structure, structural validity and the confirmatory factor analysis supported the theoretical structure of forgiveness flexibility. The criterion validity evaluated in similar manners was found high. Forgiveness flexibility designed as a three dimensional structure and its sub-dimensions was confirmed theoretically as the recognition of forgiveness andthe internalization of forgiveness through insight and its practice.Öğe Investigation of Emotional Expression as a Predictor of Psychological Symptoms(Mustafa ÖZGENEL, 2019) Koç, Mustafa; Çolak, Tuğba Seda; Düşünceli, Betül; Makas, SametThe main purpose of the study is to determine whether the level of emotional expression is a predictor of psychological symptoms. The study was performed with 338 participants, including 170 women and 168 men. Data were collected by “Expressing Feelings Scale” and “SCL-90 Symptom Checklist-90-Revised”. Data was analyzed with Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis was performed. According to results, emotional expression was significantly related to psychological symptoms. While the levels of emotional expression have increased, psychological symptoms have decreased. The levels of psychological symptoms was predicted significantly by emotional expression. Çalışma Sakarya Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 478 kız 434 erkek olmak üzere toplam 912 kişi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örnekleme alınacak bireylerin seçilmesinde oranlı örnekleme ve tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Yapısal Eşitlik Modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, Affedicilik, Psikolojik İyi Oluş, Öfke İfade Tarzı ve Belirsizliğe Tahammülsüzlük ölçekleri yardımı ile toplanmıştır. Analyzes were conducted on the psychosocial variables and psychological symptom levels of the students. Canonical correlation method was used in the analysis of the data. The first set (sex, department preference order, class level, f4 department satisfaction level, university satisfaction level, request to change department, order of birth, form of marriage, previous psychological help, request for psychological help, eating habits, having chronic illness, suicide, having harmful habits) was found to disclose the second set (somatization, obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid thought, psychotic, guilt, insomnia and appetite) at 75%.Öğe Koronavirüs Anksiyetesiyle İntihar Olasılığı Arasındaki İlişkide Öz Yeterliliğin Aracı Rolü(Fuat AYDOĞDU, 2021) Yıldırım, Musa; Bayın, Ümit; Akıncı Gökdal, Özge; Koç, MustafaBu araştırmanın amacı Covid-19 pandemisinde üniversite öğrencilerinin koronavirüs anksiyetesi ile intihar olasılığı arasındaki ilişkide öz yeterliliğin aracı rolünü incelemektir. Araştırmaya 341 üniversite öğrencisi katılım göstermiştir. Katılımcılardan veri toplamak için Kişisel Bilgi Formu, İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği, Koronavirüs Anksiyetesi Ölçeği ve Genel Öz Yeterlilik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 26.0 paket programında analiz edilmiştir. Veriler incelenirken Bağımsız Örneklemler için t Testi, Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Analizi ve Hiyerarşik Regresyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Aynı zamanda aracı değişkenin bağımlı değişkenle bağımsız değişken arasındaki aracı rolünü incelemek amacıyla yenide örnekleme yönteminden (bootstrapping) faydalanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre öz yeterliliğin koronavirüs anksiyetesi ve intihar olasılığı arasındaki ilişkide kısmi olarak aracı rol oynadığı bulunmuştur. Aynı zamanda koronavirüs sebebiyle yalnız kaldığını söyleyenlerin koronavirüs kaygısı puanlarının yalnız kalmadığını söyleyenlere göre daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Son olarak pandemi sürecinde, pandemi şartlarından dolayı istismara uğrayanların koronavirüs kaygısı ve intihar olasılıkları puanlarının istismara uğramayanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre öz yeterliliğin koronavirüs anksiyetesi ve intihar olasılığı arasındaki ilişkiye kısmi olarak aracılık ettiği bulunmuştur. Buna göre öz yeterliliğin artmasıyla intihar olasılığının azaldığı belirlenmiştir. The program was carried out with 12 subjects as an experimental study (Çolak, 2014) and found to beeffective in fostering forgiveness flexibilityÖğe Loneliness and Shyness from the Perspective of Emotion Regulation(2024) Kelek, Şehide; Awan, Erum Abid; Koç, MustafaResearch aim: Loneliness and shyness are two of our increasing psychological problems today. It is considered important to understand how emotion regulation dimensions affect these two problem areas, as one of the main factors underlying our psychological problems. In this study, it was aimed to determine how both intra and interpersonal emotion regulation strategies and difficulties in emotion regulation predict loneliness and shyness. Method: For thisaim, it was carried out with the participation of 462 people (58.4%women and 41.6% men; Rage:18-69; Mage: 28.08) from two different countries, Turkey (51.5%) and Pakistan (48.5%). It is quantitative research and descriptive and relational analyzes were made. Findings: When the findings were examined, it was found that difficulties in emotion regulation predicted both loneliness and shyness. In terms of emotion regulation strategies, while ‘expressive suppression’ and ‘social modelling’ predicts loneliness; ‘expressive suppression’ and ‘enhancing positive affect’ seem to predict shyness. It was found that other emotion regulation strategies did not predict statistically significantly. In addition, the findings obtained according to the relevant demographic variables (according to gender, country, being in a romantic relationship, having a child/children) and emotion regulation strategies were discussed in the context of the relevant literature.Conclusions: As a result of the study, it was seen that there are emotion regulation types and strategies associated with loneliness and shynessÖğe Studying Spiritual Intelligence As a Predictor on Meaningfulness and Life Satisfaction(2019) Söylemez, Aydın; Koç, MustafaSpiritual intelligence, one of the several types of intelligence, is defined as an individual’s ability to find meaning in life.The aim of the current study is to investigate the effect of spiritual intelligence on meaningfulness and life satisfaction.Being a descriptive study, we followed a relational screening model while collecting research data. The study groupconsisted of 388 undergraduate students and adults with a bachelor’s degree living in the cities of Istanbul, Kocaeli,and Zonguldak. Spiritual intelligence, meaningfulness, and life satisfaction scales were used to collect data. Descriptivestatistics as well as both correlational and regression analyses were used to analyze the data obtained by the research.The analyses demonstrated that spiritual intelligence has a positive and significant relationship with meaningfulness(.365) and life satisfaction (.219). In the regression analysis, we observed that spiritual intelligence influenced bothmeaningfulness (R2=0.133) and life satisfaction (R2=.048). We expect that this study will contribute to intelligenceand spirituality-oriented disciplines, like psychological counselling and the psychology of religion.Öğe The effect of neurofeedback-assisted emotion regulation-based psychotherapy on psychological symptoms in individuals with trauma experiences(2024) Koç, Mustafa; Çolak Turan, Tuğba Seda; Sapancı, Ahmet; Kelek, Şehide; Koç, GülşahThe aim of this research is to investigate the effect of emotion regulation-based psychotherapy supported by neurofeedback application on psychological symptoms considering the neurological changes caused by trauma in the brain. For psychological symptoms, the SCL-90-R, one of the most widely used psychological screening scales in clinical research, was used. The study was conducted with a total of ten trauma-exposed individuals between the ages of 8-15, three males and seven females. Two groups were formed to test the effects of both interventions. Participants were randomly selected for the experimental and control groups. While only emotion regulation-based sessions were applied to the control group, neurofeedback was applied to the experimental group in addition to emotion regulation sessions. In the analysis of pre-test, post-test and follow-up test scores obtained from the experimental and control group participants, Mixed Inter-Group Intra-Variance Analysis (Mix Desing ANOVA) with a factor of 2 (experimental group, control group) x 3 (pre-test, post-test, follow-up test) was used. According to the results of the research, a significant difference was found in both groups in terms of pre-test-posttest and follow-up test results corresponding to the large effect value. This finding suggests that emotion regulation studies are effective in individuals who have experienced trauma. The neurofeedback-supported emotion-regulation-based sessions applied to the experimental group reduced the symptoms of trauma more in all sub-dimensions than the control group. On the other hand, this decrease was found to be statistically significant and had a large effect size only for the depression and hostility sub-dimensions. It was concluded that this difference for these two sub-dimensions was caused by the use of neurofeedback. In addition, the difference was found to be more permanent in the neurofeedback group on the follow-up measures.Öğe The Mediating Role of Self-Sufficiency in the Relationship Between Coronavirus Anxiety and Suicide Probability(Fuat AYDOĞDU, 2021) Yıldırım, Musa; Bayın, Ümit; Gökdal, Özge Akıncı; Koç, MustafaThe aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and suicide probability of university students during the Covid-19 pandemic. 341 university students participated in the study. While analyzing the data, Unpaired t Test, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis and Hierarchical Regression Analysis were used. At the same time, the bootstrapping method was used to examine the role of mediating variable between the dependent variable and independent variable. According to the findings, it was found that self-efficacy plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and the suicide probability. In addition, it was also found that those who said they became lonely because of coronavirus had higher coronavirus anxiety scores than those who said they were not alone. Finally, it was determined that during the pandemic process, the coronavirus anxiety and suicide probability scores of those who were abused due to pandemic conditions were higher than those who were not. According to results obtained from the study, self-efficacy was found to partially mediate the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and the suicide probability. Accordingly, it was determined that the probability of suicide decreased with increased self-efficacy.
