Öğe Should Neonatal Lupus be Thought in the Differential Diagnosis of Neonatal Sepsis?(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2008) Davutoğlu, Mehmet; Güler, Ekrem; Kazancı, Ferda; Gürsoy, Halil; Karabiber, HamzaNeonatal lupus (NL) is a rare autoimmune disease. Autoantibodies of Ro and/or La are present in the mothers of almost every case. In approximately 1% of babies of mothers who have these autoantibodies will develop neonatal lupus. Neonatal lupus is manifested primarily by cutaneous lupus lesions and congenital heart block. Moreover, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, elevated hepatic transaminases and transient conjugated hyperbilirubinemia may be occur in infants. In this article we described a 4-day-old girl who had ecchymotic and purpuric lesions on the body surface. Our purpose was to emphasize the importance of considering NL in the differential diagnosis of a patient who was thought to have neonatal sepsis with clinical symptoms and hematologic parameters
