Öğe READING BRUTALIST ARCHITECTURE THROUGH URBAN IDENTITY: NEW BELGRADE SUPER BLOCKS(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2022) Buldaç, Merve; Eren, Gizem HediyeAs living organisms in terms of physical and aesthetic elements, cities meet the needs of humans' social needs. Cities gain identity with the characteristics of their population, and traditions/customs and are distinguished from each other. Architectural elements have a significant effect on urban identity. The architectural structures/elements of the New Belgrade region, where the brutal architecture is observed, are essential to urban identity. The sample area of the study consists of "Super Blocks" residential complexes in New Belgrade, built on the left bank of the Sava River in 1948. The effects of the brutal style/architecture principles on these structures and the urban furnishings/items within their borders are examined. Among qualitative research methods, a descriptive case study approach was used. Brutalist style/architecture with multiple case-embedded design is interpreted with a descriptive case study around New Belgrade Super Blocks 22, 23, 29, 33, 61-64. The study emphasizes how the relationship between the city and urban identity complement each other.
