    The aneurysmal dilatation of the portal venous system is a vascular anomaly. The portal vein aneurysms may occur ascongenital or acquired. That is usually asymptomatic. Abdominal pain and complications (thrombosis, embolism, andrupture) of the portal vein aneurysms are rarely seen. With the widespread use of ultrasound and color doppler ultrasound,the rate of diagnosis of the portal vein aneurysm is increased. Computed tomography is the best imaging modality toshows the size, shape and structure of the aneurysm. Computed tomography can illustrate the structure of the aneurysmand its relationship with neighboring structures, which is critical for surgical planning. With the advanced imagingtechniques, the portal venous aneurysm although rare, should be kept in mind at the diagnosis and treatment of patientswith abdominal pain
