Application of speed control of permanent magnet synchronous machine with PID and Fuzzy Logic Controller
(Sila Science, 2012) Doğan, Metin; Dursun, Mustafa
Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), so that the production of high power density and high torque for industrial applications, more and side with a wide range of applications. In this study was presented in the MATLAB / SIMULINK simulation environment of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. PMSM has been driven with insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) inverter as producing Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) and fuzzy logic controllers for speed control with graphical analysis of the differences between them were made. It has been entered reference input for speed control of PMSM and is examined in approach to the reference input of output speed. it was seen that Permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control application of fuzzy logic controller given better results according to the other two controller.

Investigation of TCSC and SSSC controller effects on the power system
(2011) Doğan, Metin; Tosun, Salih; Öztürk, Ali; Döşoğlu, M. Kenan
Electrical power systems have been growing due to the increased demand and various loads and it is getting more and more difficult to provide stability and control. It is possible to increase line transmission capacities and to control these systems by providing reactive power compensation. In the recent years, FACTS (Flexible Alternative Current Transmission System) devices have been used as reactive power compensation elements. The study utilized rapid responding TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor) and SSSC (Static Synchronous Series Compensator) FACTS devices that are formed by power electronics elements. The effects of these devices on voltage stability, on the powers carried on the lines and the losses that occur on the lines were investigated with the simulation and its results. © 2011 Chamber of Turkish Electric.

Investigation of the best placement for voltage stability by STATCOM
(2011) Doğan, Metin; Döşoğlu, M. Kenan; Maden, Dinçer; Tosun, Salih; Öztürk, Ali
The study is related to the identification of optimal point for Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) for static voltage stability. The study undertaken in IEEE 14 buses systems utilized analysis for relationships in voltage maximum loading parameters of STATCOM placed between lines and analysis for change in the bus voltage. Maximum loading parameter values obtained for each line and the improvements in weak buses that provided the best results were given in tables and figures. The results of the study show that STATCOM improves the voltage instability cases that can occur in optimal place selection. © 2011 Chamber of Turkish Electric.

Optimization of harmonics formed in asynchronous motors through SPWM and genetic algorithms
(2011) Doğan, Metin; Dursun, Mustafa; Boz, Ali Fuat; Poyraz, Gökhan
This study on the elimination of harmonics which form in three-phase asynchronous motors driven by inverters uses genetic algorithms (GA), one of the optimization methods, to suppress the undesired harmonics. By the use of Matlab/Simulink program, the study aims to identify the optimum switching angles in the optimum number. Optimum switching angles are the angles which make the first harmonic amplitude the biggest and the harmonic largest first-harmonic amplitudes which is to eliminated the smallest. The model has been developed by using sinusoidal pals width modulation (SPWM) technique in simulink environment. No technical help of this model using the (standard condition) the harmonic values, the values of the harmonic occured by using SPWM and the results obtained with GA is presented in tables and graphs and analyzed the differences between them. As a result, greatly reduced of harmonics clearly shown also with the help of graphs in the study made with GA. ©2011 Academic Journals.
