Öğe The relationship between secondary school students' attitudes towards coding and computational thinking skills(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2023) Ekinci, Merve; Saraç Öztop, Nihal; Demir Kaymak, Zeliha; Canan Güngören, ÖzlemAs technology advances and affects all areas of our lives, it has become a need to acquire 21st century skills. In this context, coding education is given in secondary schools and it is aimed to provide students with many skills such as problem solving, creative thinking, critical thinking and higher order thinking. Due to this situation, this study aimed to examine the relationship between middle school students' attitudes towards coding (ATC) and computational thinking skills (CKS). The sample of the study consisted of 325 middle school 5th and 6th grade students taking the Information Technologies course. Data were collected using the "Attitude Towards Coding Scale for Middle School Students" and the "Middle School Version of the Computer Thinking Skill Levels Scale (CTSL)". Descriptive statistics, Independent Samples T-Test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Simple Regression Analysis were used in data analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that middle school students' levels of SDT and BCIB were at a moderate level. It was determined that there was a positive and moderately significant relationship between students' TBT and BCIB levels. In addition, it was seen that there was no significant difference in BRT and ICT levels according to gender and daily computer usage time.
