WHY ASSAD REGIME DID NOT COLLAPSE: BASIC DYNAMICS AND STRATEGIES

When the effects of Arab Spring reached out to Syria, many thought that Assad regime would collapse in a short nbsp;time. However, Assad thanks to a number of internal dynamics, which took root in the country because of the nbsp;regime and thanks to the influence of foreign allies, and the strategic moves that he made, was able to survive, nbsp;despite the resistance movements, which started in 2011. Especially, alongside the people who are bond with nbsp;him at heart, some other groups of the society who are bond with him for their own benefit make Baas regime nbsp;stronger. Besides, the oppressive structure of Bass regime that has been supported with the strong and nbsp;widespread domestic intelligence agency has been effective on weakening the resistance against Esad. Moreover, nbsp;the fact that Russia and Iran always stand beside Esad no matter what happens and that they block the nbsp;interventions of UN and the fact that they always provide military, financial and logistical aid, have prevented nbsp;the destruction of the regime. Besides all of these, some strategical maneuvers have also made Esad more nbsp;powerful.
