    Evaluation of Ultrasonography Usage and Results in Family Practice Outpatient Clinic

    Aim: In this preliminary descriptive study, it was planned to retrospectively investigate of diagnostic usage of ultrasonography (USG), determined findings of patients and sociodemographic variations in primary health care.Material and method: Since 2006, USG is being used for diagnostic purposes in Family Practice Outpatient Clinic of Dicle University Medical Faculty. Present study was involved 20 months period between March 2006and November 2007. Outpatient clinic files and records were used for the source of data. In this study, 3.5 mHZ convex, 7.5 mHZ linear probe Aloka SSD500 USG apparatus was used. Results: Of 2840 patients applied to the Family Practice Outpatient Clinic, 436 (15.4%) were undergone USG.197 (45.2%) of them were male and 236 (54.8%) were female; mean ages were 39.1±16.7 years. USG was mostly applied to Female patients (F/M=144/78) of 18-45 years age group (n=222, 50.9%). Average number of USGapplied per month was 21.8±12.2.
