Agricultural policies of brics member states: A critical area of cooperation
(IGI Global, 2024) Bilmez, Zehra Namli
The agricultural sector is one of the cornerstones of many countries' economies and agricultural policies are developed with the aim of ensuring economic stability by reducing fluctuations in the sector, supporting rural development, ensuring sustainability, and establishing food security. This study examines the cooperation areas of the BRICS group in terms of agricultural policies and analyzes the situation of BRICS member countries. With the accession of new members, BRICS+ has the potential to develop stronger cooperation in the field of agriculture and food at the global level. The grain crisis showed the strategic importance of agricultural cooperation for BRICS countries. Sharing agricultural information, disseminating innovative technologies and promoting sustainable agricultural practices among BRICS countries will make their agricultural policies more effective and efficient. In this context, strengthening agricultural cooperation among BRICS countries will be a strategic step that will positively affect both their domestic dynamics and global food security. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.

Climate change-induced migration: Socio-economic dimension and policy recommendations
(IGI Global, 2025) Bilmez, Zehra Namli; Umutlu, Hasan
This study addresses the economic, social, and environmental impacts of climate change-induced migration from a multidimensional perspective. It is emphasized that climate-induced migration is increasing due to natural disasters, agricultural yield losses and resource depletion, which has profound social and economic impacts on migrating individuals and communities. The economic impacts of migration include imbalances in employment, infrastructure deficiencies, and contribution to local economies. The study argues that policies should be developed at national and international level to manage climate change-induced migration in a sustainable manner. Proposed solutions include policies such as education programs, infrastructure investments, and increased climate finance. In this context, understanding the relationship between climate change and migration is considered a critical step for the formulation of global strategies. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
