Hastane Çalışanlarında Staphylococcus Aureus Nazal Taşıyıcılığı ve İndüklenebilir Klindamisin Direnci
(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2013) Artan, Cem; Oğuzkaya Artan, Müge; Baykan, Zeynep
Staphylococcus aureus the major pathogen in causing nosocomial infections, settled in nasal area primarily. Our studyis conducted to evaluate the carriage rate of S. aureus in hospital staff, the antibiotic sensitivity of the pathogen and therisk factors associated with carriage. Between December 2012 and January 2013, a total of 98 Kayseri Training andResearch Hospital Chest Clinic staff’s nasal swabs were tested. Identification and antibiotic susceptibility tests by diskdiffusion method for S. aureus were conducted in accordance with the guidelines of Clinical and Laboratory StandardsInstitute (CLSI). Inducible clindamycin resistance was detected by the D-test. S. aureus carriage rate was determined as15%. There was no association between risk factors analysed for carriage. Of the isolates, 13.3% showed inducibleclindamycin resistance. None of the 15 isolates had antibiotic resistance (vancomycin, gentamicin, rifampicin, teicoplanin, and trimethoprim-suifamethoxazole) except erythromycin and clindamycin. There was no methicillinresistance detected in our study. As a result of this study was gratifying absence of MRSA, despite remarkable rate ofinducible clindamycin resistance carriers.

(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2015) Artan, Cem; Oğuzkaya Artan, Müge; Baykan, Zeynep
This is a cross-sectional study aimed at identifying the health staffs that have an important role in the spread of hospitalinfections, practices and knowledge about preventive precautions against the spread of infections to both themselvesand inside the hospital. The study was carried out in December 2012 and included all of the health staff in Chest Clinicof Kayseri Training and Research Hospital. A questionnaire containing 44 items was used to collect data. The greatmajority of staff was aware of presence of infection control committee. But some staff didn’t know that in hospital thereis a keeping record system on personal injury and also they didn’t use it. Nearly all the staff knows washed their handswere important in prevention but alcoholic disinfectants found safe only half of them. The importance of environmentas source of transmission of nosocomial infections not wholly understood by the staff (cleaning of stethoscope, weargloves when taking blood pressure or pulse etc.). There was a good awareness of hospital policy on nosocomial infectionsand presence of infection control committee among health care workers. This means central management attachimportance to this point but poor practice. Routine seminars on factors associated with occurrence of nosocomialinfections needed
