    Burnout and Factors Affecting it in the Nursing Students

    This research was conducted in order to determine the levels of burnout in nursing students, as well as the factors affecting these levels. Target population of this descriptive study consisted of 355 students studying in the nursing department of a health high school at a university while its sample consisted of 288 students who were willing to participate in the research. Personal Information Form developed by the researchers and Maslach Burnout Scale were used as data collection tools. Score averages of students studying in the health high school were determined as; 13.09 ± 6.16 in the lower dimension of emotional burnout, 4.17 ± 3.08 in the lower dimension of depersonalization and 10.96 ± 4.83 in the lower dimension of personal success. There was a statistically significant difference between the emotional burnout levels of students according to gender (p lt;0.05). There was also a statistically significant difference between their emotional burnout and personal success levels according to the state of voluntarily selecting the nursing department (p lt;0.05). Statistically significant differences were found in the lower dimensions of burnout among the students dissatisfied with the department of nursing and students working as nurses (p lt;0.05). As a result of the study, it was emphasized to conduct preventive studies for decreasing the burnout levels of nursing students for the purpose of improving the quality of nursing services.
