Öğe EVALUATION OF DIASTOLIC FUNCTIONS IN PATIENTS WITH BEHCET’S DISEASE: A TISSUE DOPPLER STUDY(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2014) Kaya, Hakan; Akçay, Ahmet; Sökmen, Abdullah; Balakan, Ozan; Köroğlu, Sedat; Nacar, Alper Buğra; Süner, ArifObjectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate diastolic functions and myocardialperformance index (MPI) in patients with Behcet’s disease (BD).Methods: Thirty-one BD patients (mean age 34.4±10.5 years) and 31 control subjects (meanage 33.2±10.3 years) were enrolled in this study. Left ventricular and right ventricular diastolicfunctions were assessed by conventional Doppler and tissue Doppler (TDI) methods, and MPIwas also calculated. The relationship between these parameters and disease duration wasevaluated. Results: In conventional Doppler echocardiography, Mitral A-wave velocity and decelerationtime were higher, and E/A ratio was lower in patients with BD (p=0.002, p=0.02, and p=0.006,respectively). Mitral E-wave velocity and isovolumetric relaxation time were comparablebetween groups (p gt;0.05). In TDI examination, E?/A? ratio measured from lateral mitral annuluswas lower, and A? velocity measured from lateral tricuspid annulus was higher in patients withBD (p=0.03 and p=0.02, respectively). Other mitral annular TDI (E?, A?, S?, E/E? ratio, and MPI)and tricuspid lateral annular parameters (S?, E?, E?/A? ratio and MPI) were similar between twogroups (p gt;0.05). In correlation analysis, lateral mitral annulus E?/A? ratio were inverselycorrelated with disease duration in patients with BD (r = -0.54, p=0.002). Conclusion: Left and right ventricular diastolic function parameters were significantly differentin patients with BD and controls. Diastolic function parameters were significantly associatedwith disease duration and echocardiographic follow-up may be useful in these patientsÖğe The Evaluation Of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Cases In Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital Between 1999 And 2005(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2007) Balakan, Ozan; Kıdır, Veysel; Süner, Ali; Yalçın, KendalAim: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gas trointestinal illness including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). In this study, we aimed to investigate social–demographic and clinical features and management strategies in patients diagnosed as IBD between 1999-2005. Material and Method: We investigated the patients examined in Gastroenterology Clinic of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine in 1999-2005, retrospectively. Mean ages, female/male ratios, smoking, types of the diseases, localizations of the disease were determined. Local or systemic complications, treatment strategies and causes of surgical treatments were evaluated. Result: A total of 42 patients diagnosed as IBD, of which 36 were UC, 6 were CD (p
