Öğe The Effect of Nursing Students' Use of Social Media and Family Communication on Phubbing and Being Phubbed(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2024) Uyar, Pınar; Ayar, DijleAim: Today, with the developing technology, the way of communication and interaction of individuals is changing, and with this change, the problem of being phubbed and phubbing gains importance day by day. Among the factors that can affect this behavior, communication within the family and the use of social media play an important role. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of social media use and family communication of nursing students on phubbing and being phubbed.Material and methods: This research was conducted total of 739 nursing students in a descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational qualification. The data of the study; It was collected by using the “Descriptive Information Form”, “Social Media Usage and Family Communication Scale”, “General Scales of Phubbing and Being Phubbed Scale”. Nursing students' descriptive information was evaluated by number and percentage analysis, and the relationship between variables was evaluated by pearson correlation and regression analysis.Results: When the correlation between the students' social media use, their family communication and their phubbing status is examined; It was determined that there was a weak and significant relationship in the positive direction. When the correlation between social media use, family communications and being phubbed is examined, the correlation between the total score averages is examined; It was determined that there was a weak and significant relationship in the positive direction. It was determined that the use of social media and family communication increased the general being phubbing status 0.357 times and the exposure to phubbing 0.368 times.Conclusion: It was determined that there was a significant relationship between students' exposure to phubbing and their use of social media and family communication. It was found that nursing students' social media use’s and family communication predicted their phubbing and being phubbed.
