Öğe ON CREATIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN COURSE: A CASE-BASED DESIGN PLATFORM(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2017) İrkin Gündüz, Nilay; Akbulut, DilekCreativity is defined as outrageous combination of ordinary ideas. Basically design education aims to develop creativity, the ability to act independently, visual thinking, and visual expression skills. It is a common opinion that during secondary education students go through an instruction that rely on memorization and neglect competency. On the other hand, creativity and design practice operate by utilizing visual and ideas stored in memory as a library, or a source of reference. For this reason, visual material in design is regarded as a factor that is necessary on the one hand, and that is limits and renders the designer dependent on the other hand. Within this reason, a study is conducted to understand how secondary school students utilize the visual material in product design. The study is based on creating new product patterns by combining existing functional components via the developed case-based design platform. The developed design platform in the study is aimed to be used in Technology and Design course in secondary educationÖğe ON DESIGN INTERVENTIONS IN LOCAL PRODUCTION AND TOURISM RELATIONS; TOWARDS THE CASE OF SAFRANBOLU(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2019) Köse, Ege Kaya; Akbulut, DilekCraft practices carry a strong local identity in the cultural context in which local knowledge is maintained. On the other hand, modern production for the global market replaces local knowledge and local-centred practice. Standardization of materials and production leads to disappearance of local production, its processes and local materials. In recent years, sustainability research has been carried out in different disciplines in order to protect local knowledge, to ensure transfer between generations and to maintain local production. Although materials and production methods, craft and sustainability studies are frequently encountered in the literature, in the context of tourism; research on local productions and their contribution to design intervention is limited. The scope of the study is to determine the conceptual and practical aspects of design interventions that can contribute to local productions through design in the framework of tourism and to develop intervention strategies. Current design interventions to local crafts are classified to establish the link between local production, design and tourism, and to shed light to future implementations in Safranbolu. In this context, the collection, compilation and classification of the written and printed data were mainly included. A new design intervention approach proposal for the Safranbolu field study is included in this study
