Bronchocentric Granulomatosis

Bronchocentric granulomatosis is a destructive, granulomatous lesion of the bronchi andbronchioles. Bronchocentric granulomatosis is often divided clinically into two groups: patientswith or without asthma. In all cases, a careful search for an underlying cause should beconsidered. Radiographic presentation of bronchocentric granulomatosis is varied and includessolitary nodules, multiple nodules, atelectasis and areas of consolidation. The upper lobes aremore commonly involved than the lower lobes. Many patients with unexplained or idiopathicbronchocentric granulomatosis improve without medical therapy. A course of systemicglucocorticoids has resulted in improvement in a few case reports; a small number of patientshave recurrent or persistent disease requiring longer-term glucocorticoid treatment
