    Finding the stability boundary values in electrical power systems by using the particle swarm optimization algorithm

    The critical values of a power system are the limit values of its highest active power, voltage amplitude, and the angles of the busses for its voltage stability. In this research, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was examined to determine the critical values in electrical power systems. We first determined the critical values using the Jacabian matrix obtained with the load flowing analysis, where the determinant was zero, after which the same critical values were computed using the PSO method and then the results were evaluated. We observed that the critical values can be determined more easily and were reliable with the PSO. © 2011 Academic Journals.

    Metaheuristic-based automatic generation controller in interconnected power systems with renewable energy sources

    It is necessary to minimize fluctuations in system frequency and tie-line power deviations to provide high-quality, reliable, and stable electrical power. Automatic Generation Control (AGC) is the essential control process to keep the frequency and tie-line power change between acceptable values in interconnected power systems. Problems such as stability, peak deviation, and transient response are the general disadvantages of studies in the literature. To eliminate these disadvantages and to improve parameters such as maximum/minimum overshoot, and settling time, we propose a novel controller named PID-(1+I) for AGC in a two-area nonreheat thermal power system integrated with renewable energy sources (RESs) such as photovoltaic (PV) panels and wind turbines (WTs). The gain parameters of the proposed controller are optimally tuned by newly developed metaheuristic algorithms such as Gorilla Troops Optimizer (GTO), African Vulture Optimization Algorithm (AVOA), and Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA). To examine the effectiveness of the proposed controller, the system is tested under conditions such as random load change, RES generation, and system parameter change. The results show that the proposed controller gives remarkable results in terms of overshoot and settling time values. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

    Recovering the voltage dip analysis with STATCOM of dfig in multi-machine wind farm

    In this study, voltage dip analysis of the wind power plant that is connected to 6 MW Double Feed Induction Generator (DFIG) was performed. During the operation of Multi-machine wind farm that is connected to network adaptation between 10 MVAr STATCOM and system was provided. Purpose of this adaptation, 3-phase fault analysis is to be able and the elimination of problems that may occur with induction motor runstop.
