An evaluation of the fractured locking block has been undertaken in order to assess its integrity which included a visual inspection, chemical and metallurgical analysis, hardness measurements and examination of fracture surface. Pro/Engineer software was used to modeling of locking part. The finite element code ANSYS/LS-DYNA and ANSYS Workbench is used to determine the stress distributions and fatigue behavior of the locking block, respectively. This study indicates that the fracture of the locking block occurred because of fatigue. Besides, SEM observations show that there is a cavity inside the materials. These cavities reduced the fatigue life of the locking block.en10.1016/j.engfailanal.2020.104963info:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessSemi gas-automatic shotgunFracture analysisLocking blockFinite element methodFailure AnalysisFatigue fracture analysis of the semi-auto shotgun mechanism by using finite element analysis and experimental setupArticle1172-s2.0-85092086864WOS:000582981800058Q1Q2
