For this purpose, test trees that were supplied from Dörtyol (Hatay) region were used. As a result of the tests, it was found that the annual ring width of Quercus robur L. wood was 2.1 mm, air dry density was 0.776 g/cm3, complete dry density was 0.721 g/cm3, volume-density value was 0.612 g/cm3, radial direction shrinking was 4.9%, tangential direction shrinking was 6.5%, volumetric shrinking was 11.4%, tangential direction swelling was 9.5%, radial direction swelling was 5.2% and volumetric swelling was found as 14.7%. According to obtained data, it was understood that it is rather suitable to grow Quercus robur L. wood in the soil characteristics of the habitat.Bu çalışmada, Türkiye ormancılığının önemli ağaç türlerinden biri olan Saplı meşe (Q. robur L.) odununun bazı fiziksel özellikleri ile bunların oluşumunda etkili olan başlıca toprak elamanları üzerinde çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla testlerde, Dörtyol (Hatay) yöresinden temin edilen deneme ağaçları kullanılmıştır. Yapılan deneyler sonucunda, Saplı meşede yıllık halka genişliği 2.1 mm, hava kurusu yoğunluk 0.776 g/cm3, tam kuru yoğunluk 0.721 g/cm3, hacim-ağırlık değeri 0.612 g/cm3, radyal yönde daralma %4.9, teğet yönde daralma %6.5, hacmen daralma %11.4, teğet yönde genişleme % 9.5 radyal yönde genişleme %5.2 ve hacmen genişleme %14.7 olarak bulunmuştur.
