It is obvious that, the new shear walls added to the system will have direct effects on different structural characteristics of the building and the earthquake analysis method. Therefore, the proper configuration of shear walls installed to strengthen the building is an important issue. In this study, three different configurations of shear walls installed to strengthen the existing 7-story reinforced concrete building are taken into consideration and the effects of these configurations on modal characteristics, relative storey drifts and conditions required to use the Incremental Equivalent Earthquake Load Method are investigated. In consequence of the results obtained from this study, suggestions associated with installation of shear walls within the frame plane are made.Mevcut çerçeve düzlemi içinde betonarme perde eklenmesi ülkemizde en sık kullanılan sistem güçlendirmesidir. Betonarme sisteme eklenecek perdelerin, binanın çeşitli yapısal parametrelerine ve deprem güvenliğinin belirlenmesinde kullanılacak hesap yönteminin seçimine doğrudan etkileri olacaktır. Bu nedenle, güçlendirme perdelerinin mevcut binanın kat planı içerinde uygun bir şekilde düzenlemesi önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, yedi katlı, betonarme çerçeve sistemli mevcut bir binaya güçlendirme amacıyla eklenmesi düşünülen perdelerin üç farklı tip düzenlemesinin binanın modal parametrelerine, göreli kat ötelemelerine ve yapısal performans analizinde Artımsal Eşdeğer Deprem Yükü Yöntemi’nin kullanılabilmesi için sağlanması gereken koşullara etkileri incelenmiştir.
