However, the challenge is to develop a benign and cost effective inhibitor that is highly effective. Addition of substances that exert synergistic influence and blending of different metals inhibitors had been employed. This review article delineates the effect of addition of metals cations and blending on the inhibition efficiency of metals corrosion inhibitors. The mechanisms proposed for the synergistic inhibition resulting from either addition of metals cations or blending are also discuss based on reported experimental data. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd.
