Material and Method: In this descriptive study, it was evaluated the prison records associated with referral to the hospital and 112 emergency ambulance service uses for one year in 2010-2011. Of the statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, chi-square test and Fisher's Exact Test were used. Results: All inmates and convicts were man, the median of age was 30,0 (min 18-max 68) years and substance use was 34,5%. The number of prisoners were referred to the hospital 815, total referrals were 1491; (referrals ranged from one to six) and most common in January; and according to frequency, reasons of the referral were eyes problems, musculoskeletal disorders and psychological problems. Emergency medical service was used for in medical causes (78,3%), accident, trauma and injuries (16,4%), suicide (5,3%).
